NEW COUNCIL MEMBER!
We are happy to announce that the contest will have a new council member starting with next edition. The person was asked to join due to his contribution in some of the latest edition as host, and now will become a permanent council member.
Please welcome...
Congratulations! We are looking forward working with you again. He will also replace alexeh who sadly decided to quit the council.
From now on, make sure to put the right people in your approvals PMs

Changes in the council
The council has suffered new changes after the end of the 51st edition. Unfortunately, 2 members decided to leave: Lα΄κ° and George J.. We would like to thank both of them for their contribution and the work they put in the past editions.
However, a new member will be joining the council. Please welcome... We are looking forward working with you. Make sure to include the right people in your approvals PMs

THE FUTURE OF THE CONTESTAfter the very looooooooooong hiatus (just as long as the amount of o's in the word "long", har) that made me think about the fate of the contest, I came to the conclusion that I still lowkey miss the contest. Last night I literally had a dream about its return, and I would love to give it a (another 69th) chance, as I think it has potential. If the spin-offs work well, why not the main contest too?1. When it will return? I am considering a return at the beginning of 2020, therefore somewhere around January. If enough people show interest, I will be motivated to keep going with it, even tho not as often, because I would also love to keep the spin-off running too, so maybe one edition once in 3 months? (one month reserved for every spin-off). 2. What will happen with the council? I will probably give up on having a proper council, except maybe 1-2 people (including the host member) who can give a little hand of help. I made this decision not only because I rather prefer to work alone, but also because there are not interested people with much free time willing to help me with a design, which is still the most complicated thing for me, as I am really uninspired. However, that is still subject of change in the near future. We will see how it goes. 3. What will happen with the participants? A lot of current participants probably are inactive or don't want to get involved in the contest anymore, and I really understand that. I will not be upset if your decision will be to withdraw. Soon I'll start messaging every user who has a country in the taglist, asking them if they want to continue their participation. If I will not receive an answer in around 1 week from when the message was sent, i'll declare their country free. Which leads me to the next question...4. What will happen with the Waiting List users? If someone will declare that they don't want to participate anymore, they will be replaced by the waiting list users, until all the countries are taken. A decision regarding the way how a country will be given to someone is yet to be decided. It is most likely that the usual draws will take place, but first I would need to have a idea about the amount of free countries at that point. But there is still time for that to be decided.
With that being said, I would like you to give your opinions and react about this in the General Discussion Thread.
Thank you and have a nice day.

BACK TO OLD WIKIAAfter the news that all the data from the oesc.songcontests.eu was lost, the contest (together with all the spin-offs) will be moved again to the old wikia: own-eurovision-song-contest.fandom.com, which was not active for almost a year. Iβll try to restore the information posted during the last year, however it will take some time, especially re-creating the templates which were added during the last year on the new wiki. Sorry for the inconvenience, and hope to bring it back as soon as possible.

NEW WARNING SYSTEMA new warning system will be introduced after the previous one being rather inefficient and unfair. The new system will work similarly to the old one, just instead of strikes users will receive warnings. It will work equally for all the sub-contests and will be converted as soon as possible. Once reaching 100%, users will be forced to withdraw. They will be allowed to rejoin the contest (or the waiting list) after one edition break. Users caught with cheating attempt will receive permanent bans and will not be allowed to rejoin any of the contests.
The warning percentages will be given as follows:WARNING | REASON | 5% | β’ minor rule deviation (e.g. withdrawing after deadline, creating drama) | 10% | β’ voting during deadline extension | 15% | β’ failure to confirm or withdraw within deadline β’ failure to send an entry within deadline
| 25% | β’ failure to vote in any required event | 50% | β’ cheating/attempt of cheating |

NEW WIKI URL The Own Eurovision Song Contest Wiki (& co) has a new URL. The changes were necessary because the old URL was too long and uncomfortable to use. Everyone who contribute or just visits the fandom can now access it using the following link: ownesc.fandom.com
The old URL can still be accessed but it will redirect to the new one.

NEW WIKI! The Own Eurovision Song Contest & co have moved to a new wiki. Due to the fandom annoying updates, making the things even more harder to edit, it was decided to move to Miraheze, which is also more pleasant visually. As all the images couldn't be moved, there are still pages with mistakes or wrong pictures and information. We're working to fix that as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone who helped so far and you're more than welcome to contribute and fix whenever you see a mistake. The old fandom wiki is still available to copy the needed information.
You can now access it on the following link: ownsc.miraheze.org

ASSOCIATE BROADCASTERS TO JOIN OESC Starting with the 57th edition of Own Eurovision Song Contest, new associate broadcasters will be able to participate in the contest. After all the current countries are taken, the waiting list users who want to enter the competition will be allowed to participate with one of the associate broadcasters. They will be able to join temporarily as an associate member in the respective edition with a country that is currently not a permanent member of the Own European Broadcasting Union.
An associate member joins the Standby List of the edition after confirming and will be able to fill a free spot and participate in that edition if it will have less than 48 participants. That means that if the following edition the number of participating countries will increase and exceed 48 entries, the user(s) who confirmed with an associate member will not be able to take part. Joining as an associate broadcaster doesn't guarantee a permanent spot in the contest, meaning that you would still stay in the waiting list until you'll join the contest permanently. If you're interested in taking an associate, you must confirm every edition, unless you get an AQ spot, which secures a place in the following edition.
The list of the available countries that will be able to join are: Aland Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey. These territories will not be allowed to borrow, meaning that they have to send only singers that are native or that have a sort of connection to these dependencies.
With that being said, I would like to announce that the confirmations for the next edition will open 2nd of September @ 17:00:00 CEST.
