I was hoping much better for France after the completely unfair flop last time. MUCH better.
Sorry, I'm not in the mood to comment the results.

17th! I'm actually happy with that and also expected something around there. Thanks to Taiwan for an unexpected and the other 11 countries who mainly gave me between and . Not a too surprising winner just like Germany and UK (can't believe I'm the only one who gave it ) in top 3. Even though I like the winner song, I prefer other songs of hers. The rest of the results are quite satisfying as I just found out that in the top 11 are only and to not have received points from me (and are both overrated imo) And sorry, but the songs outside the top 20 were mainly deserved.

Expected a top 5 result, but not victory Thanks to everyone who voted for Shania, especially Slovenia, Malta and Latvia for . (11th favorite) round up a great top 5, especially and . Usually I vote majorly for the higher-placed countries, but seems like this edition was an exception: were underrated, and and were criminally underrated With Canada now just behind Germany and United States for most victories, I'll be sticking to sending lesser known artists (and maybe also unknown songs from popular singers) for awhile now, to show off Canada's internationally undiscovered music. Nevertheless, see you next edition in Niagara Falls, where we will revisit Ontario after 20 editions!

I'm trying to find explanations to the double mega-flop of my two last songs. It seems completely irrational. I considered these songs as safe choices for a top 10 and these results are completely astonishing and discouraging. I can tell you that if I hadn't won one edition I would already have completely lost faith and left the contest. But I really begin to wonder if "Moi Lolita" wasn't like a rain in Sahara. I would appreciate if people who gave to my two last songs told me why. Victoires de la Musique 2003: Song of the Year NRJ Music Awards 2003: Francophone Song of the Year NRJ Music Awards 2004: Francophone Song of the Year Alright, so why I didn't give you any points... Isn't it pretty simple? I just didn't like them enough? Your statement is quite silly to be honest. The fact those songs have received an award doesn't imply that we should all love them. Cyprus has a quite small music industry and I've done well with local artists and songs that probably nobody had ever heard before. Going for something famous might not be the best option as you have high expectations and then, when you see people not voting for you, you just can't understand why. However, if a song has charted in a country, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be liked by everyone. Apparently your songs were really good for a local success but not outside France... My suggestion is trying with some less known artists and you never know, you might end up getting a decent result eventually with something you wouldn't even expect to do a TOP 10.

They didn´t like the song end of the story

My suggestion is trying with some less known artists and you never know, you might end up getting a decent result eventually with something you wouldn't even expect to do a TOP 10. I'm gonna agree with Mimis about your high expectations with popular songs in France. As he already said - just because a song is popular to local audience, doesn't mean everyone outside France will like them equally... It's just that you (french people) find something in those songs that non-french people don't! I have exactly the same situation - there are so many great songs in Latvia that should do great in contests, but it's just that we latvians understand them, but you just don't most of the time (I don't mean only the language, but also the emotions and meaning that is put into the lyrics). That's why I try using different styles with different known and unknown artists (unknown only for you mostly). Most of the time I don't get a good result, but sometimes I'm lucky... let's take as an example my last 4 entries here in Retro WWWSC - only one of these songs finished higher than 21st (1st place), but it was the one I least expect it to... the other 3 were charting in Latvia back in the day and are still quite popular here, but as you can see by the results - you didn't get the same feeling while listening to those songs that we latvians do... I think that's the main reason for this situation! Before my win I didn't get top10 finish for 9 consecutive editions (mostly got mid 20's positions). If you participate just for the result, then I think you should reconsider it, because you won't always get the result you want. Let's take me as an example again - I got 4th place 3 times, 5th, 6th and 7th positions a few more times as well, but I just couldn't get that top3 that I really wanted at least for once... it took me 47 editions to finally get my top3... if I'd participate for the results, I would've given up at least 20 editions ago... obviously you always want to get the best, but sometimes you just have to swallow your high expectations and realize that this is not a fairytale, but real life... P.S. I think your songs were decent, I kinda liked them, but not so much to say that I loved them... in #48 edition I liked 90% of songs, but I could give points only to 10... as they say - if you fall off the horse (get a couple of 20-ish places), then get right back on (bounce back with some good result)
