This song is overused. I'm not sure about the respective rules tho. It doesn't appear to violate any rules (unless the 'Search' feature isn't working very well)

If you wonder, the music video has been recorded in Barcelona.
Timeslot: 2:28
I'd have preferred the original by far. :/ But can you send this when the rules say you're mot allowed to sing in a language that's official in any other country competing? Firstly, I consider that the association of the two voices works very well and is an enrichment of the original song. And by the way, Gavin's French pronunciation is very convincing. About the eligibility of the song, I also wondered if it was OK... 1) About the cover rule: I already checked that an alternative version of an original song was allowed as long as the original artist is present. My entry for was a solo song by Ycare then he made a duo version with Axelle Red. 2) About the language rules: I met a similar issue with my Belgian selection, and not only with the song I finally chose. I also had a more complex situation with a Belgian leading artist and a featuring French duo. Tufkai told me it would be OK to send this song as long as the Belgian singer was the leading singer. So I took this in consideration. I also discussed about a potential case with a German duo singing in German and French, and the leading singer had a connection with Switzerland where French is an official language and also with Tunisia where French is spoken by a large part of the population. Therefore, the song was ineligible to Germany. But Tufkai told me that the song would be eligible for because the leading singer had a connection with Switzerland. The fact that the other singer had a connection with another German speaking country was not an issue - she had no connection with another French speaking country, just with Bulgaria.
In conclusion, as long as the leading artist of a song meets the requirements, you can include him in an international association. In that case, Gavin James is from Ireland and has no connection with a French speaking country. And since non vernacular languages are allowed this edition, having a significant part of French lyrics in a song for Ireland is not an issue.
I guess that for other countries, the answer would be: No, because the leading artist is connected to an English speaking country. and Maybe: like in the case of Stéphanie of Monaco, we would have to answer to the question: is the part of the French lyrics significant enough?
