After a disappointing non-qualification in Kinshasa, due to a tiebreaker, NTA can confirm that Nigeria will be present in Ouagadougou with a strong song. Nigerian Television Authority is also proud to announce that the next Nigerian hopeful will be...
Tems Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, is a Nigerian alt-R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. Tems was born in Lagos in 1996. At school, she was noticed by her music teacher and she learnt the piano. She would practice singing with her brother's guitar accompaniment. She attended Dowen College in Lekki and studied and graduated in economics in Johannesburg. In 2018 she recorded "Mr Rebel" - a song of her own composition. She’s one of the newest names in Nigerian music and has already made a name for herself as the "queen of the alternative scene". The song will be revealed soon.

Libya confirms participation Tripoli, 13 June 2020 - After an unexpected fifth place for Libya, it has been rather obvious that the North African country would take part in the upcoming edition of Own Africavision. Today, this has been further confirmed by their broadcaster LRT, announcing that they will send a participant to Ouadougou as an automatic finalist.
Despite not making any further announcements, leaked internal reports showed that LRT have already selected their representative, this time being an international act with Libyan connections. More information will be announced in due course.

DR Congo Announces Their Second Artist Kinshasa, 13 June 2020 - Following a successful hosting of the first edition of the Own Africavision Song Contest, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has confirmed their return to the contest. While the nation will have to compete in the semis, an artist has already been selected, and will be revealed below
Lous and the Yakuza
Marie-Pierra Kakoma, better known as Lous and the Yakuza, Lous and the Yakuza, is a Congolese-Belgian singer. Born in the DRC, her mom and younger sister moved to Brussels when she was two, and she and the rest of her siblings followed suit when she was four, moving to Rwanda in 2005. When she lived in Belgium in her childhood, it was a bit of a shock to her as "Our whole street was only immigrants everywhere, and it was a huge difference of... I don’t know if it’s the right word in English to say ‘caste’? In Congo we were rich, the house was huge like a fucking hotel. And then we came to Belgium in a tiny apartment and I was sharing a small room with my sisters. My mother wasn’t happy because she couldn’t be a doctor there, (even though) she had studied to be a doctor – I saw she was not happy but she was at least happy to get her children back.". The producer of her music is none other than El Guincho, who is best known for his works with Rosalía.
Us here at the TRNC are happy to announce that the song will be selected through a national final, known as Mizíkí ya, which is Lingala for Music of. 4 of Lous' songs will compete for a chance to represent the nation in Burkina Faso
