Gigi Welplade (Ste)
Kenya: First of all, love the fact that you went with an uptempo sad song. It stood out in a wonderful way. It bopped, and the lyrics were quite sad as a whole. Wish the vocals were the same, but it's so good I don't really care about that. Way to go girl
Addison: This was an interesting approach to a sad song but one that I think paid off for you. You branched off into different effects of sad verging into mental breakdown and I love a verge into mental breakdown my love. The lyrics worked well and sonically I think it worked well too. I always enjoy seeing what creative, out of the box take you bring to the challenge and so far it's worked for you, love to see it!
Olivia: I think sound-wise, this might've been my favorite song of the week. It started slow but towards the end it was serving a bit of an eargasm. The lyrics are also quite sad, so you executed the challenge well. I do think that the vocals of the singer didn't express the sadness of the lyrics as much as I would've wanted, but this is still a wonderful submission.

Penny D.Lux (Josh Heart)
Olivia: This club banger entry is definitely the most memorable club entry of the week. Is it something I'd listen to again? Not really, but I did enjoy my time listening to it, as it is a cute whopper and I could imagine dancing to it in a club, so you did a good job.
Addison: This was a decent enough club entry, for me it's not a stand out in this week though. It's cute, it's fun, it's works well as a club song, but is maybe a little safe? It didn't knock me out of the park. Nice song though
Kenya: The flavour in this is saur good. I may be an Urias stan and eat everything she touches up, but this was a very memorable club entry. It gave club, and I was bopping listening to this. Nothing else to really write about. It gave what I needed it to give.

Cher Noble (Agni)
Olivia: Well this song fits the theme I suppose, I can't deny it. And it's an interesting song too. But I don't know... it's just not my personal taste? Parts of the song sounded quite annoying to be honest. It also sounded a bit disjointed and not in an interesting, intriguing way. I don't dislike it, it's a good effort, it just didn't hit my taste buds quite right, I fear.
Kenya: If it wasn't for the last minute or so, this would be a bottom placer for me. But it picked up and it was so good. Shame the rest of the song couldn't be like her. All in all, I'd listen to her again.
Addison: Giiiiiiiiiiiirl did you know that I actually wrote this song WITH Isabella Lovestory??? I was inspired by the works of Bjork. So obviously this song is incredible but additionally I think it's a fantastic fit for the theme. So futuristic, so 3008, so gorgeous. Keep this energy going and it will serve you well!

Chibmydia (Apo & Wysteria)
Kenya: Okay, so here's the thing. This wasn't bad overall, but there was one real stand out. Shut Up. Girl this was what I wanted and more. Inject this straight into my veins. Love it :meowheart: January was cute, but it wasn't sad enough for me. I like the route, but didn't care for the destination. Honestly Olivia said all I needed to for ha. Next
I really loved the idea for the alcohol song (it gave me in HMH S2 teas), but this would've done better as the sad song. It was servicable enough to where I don't hate it, but I wish it was more exact on the alcohol and less on the abuse
Overall, given the roller coaster ride y'all went through this week, I'm not going to complain. It hit the assignment, and I'm pleased with the full package
Addison: Overall these three songs were a VERY mixed bag - in fact I think you might have the best and worst entries of the week all in one post. Let's start though with your club song, which was actually my favourite club entry of the three this week. It's not exactly a revolutionary song, it's something that we've heard before, but it slapped to me and I enjoyed it. That was good!
Your sad song... not so much. It just felt like a bit of a tired and boring approach to the sad song theme. It's like... TikTok girl goes singer-songwriter with a weird niche overly specific prompt kind of deal. It's a bit of a tired trope to me and nothing else about the song really compensated for how much of a non-event the 'sadness' of the song was. I just didn't really feel like this executed the task given particularly well on any level.
With all of that being said, your alcohol song was fantastic and definitely up there with the best entries of the week. An interesting approach to the theme which, having researched it a little bit myself IS about alcoholism - I really liked the artistic liberty you took with it and for me it definitely paid off. You girls had a harder week than anyone else this week and that is kind of reflected in your weakest entry BUT you showed us very clearly that you show a lot of potential and deserve to be in this competition.
Olivia: Since we don't know which one of you came up with which song, we'll have to critique you two for all three songs at the same time I guess. Let's start with the club song: Meh. It's cute. Exchangeable. Nothing memorable. Next.
Your sad song was interesting but didn't 100% do it for me. I liked the different interpretation/approach of the theme but that different approach also made it somewhat lacking in sadness. Listening to the lyrics made me go "Aww :/", when I really wanted the sad song to make me bawl my eyes out, you know what I mean?
Then we have your alcohol entry. Musically, the best song of your group. At first I wasn't sure whether this entry entirely fit the theme, since snake oil isn't necessarily alcohol, but Professor Addison Rae informed me that the term "snake oil" is, in fact, just a metaphor and that Miss Baker was indeed singing about alcohol. Great!
Overall I think you did a good team effort, especially since you lost a team member, but it could've been a bit more polished. I'll give you a pass on that, since I'm still pleased with what you served this week, albeit it's not a 10/10.

Pragma Tick (Alexa)
Addison: Another creative send from you, a simple song but one that works REALLY well. I loooooved everything about this entry - the song is gorgeous and it fit both the theme and the overall story that your team was trying to tell perfectly. Every week you are pushing the boundaries and proving that you are one to watch in this competition, I can't wait to see what you do next!
Olivia: You've sent a great entry this week, darling. I love how the lyrics encapsulated the theme that your group was going for and Nina Simone's voice is always a treat. I have no complaints here and I hope you'll keep serving!
Kenya: Girl you've redeemed yourself from week 1 in such a great way. This is the retro bop we've needed in the competition. It's so heartfelt and moving. I'm so impressed at the glow up. I have nothing bad to say about this because there is nothing to really critique this on

Bitta Pill (Jhr)
Olivia: I think you nailed it! The lyrics are a great representation of the end of a relationship and the song sounds beautiful. This is a case of "less is more" because the song hits hard despite being rather simple. It expressed the sadness quite well, so well done!
Kenya: This is such a serve. It's so moving, while being very palatable. I am such a stan. I will knock you slightly, as this was in HMH Season 2 Episode 1, but I'll let it slide as the entries were never uploaded to the wiki. But once again, great job.
Addison: You did a really good job this week! This was really gorgeously simple, and really really effective for the challenge too. I can't fault it, a very sad song and a great pick. Great job!

Azora Rivers (nns)
Kenya: If this came on in the club, I'd want a refund. It's bland without being interesting, boring without being moving, and it just exists. I fear you are leaning too much into the Own Contest stannery (meh song from an obscure region), as it's two weeks in a row with this sort of song
Addison: I mean this was alright! I think an easy trap to fall into with club bangers is that they can sound quite samey and end up being a little forgettable, and I think your song suffered from this a bit. I could see its significance to the story your team was telling, and it worked fine, it just didn't really push any further than that.
Olivia: I mean... it's a song I would expect to hear in the club, that is correct. But I would then leave the club asap. To be fair, it's not a terrible song and it fits the theme but it's just... mediocre. I feel like I've heard a million songs that sound just like this one. It's a bit too generic for me and not big enough of a banger to make up for that.
