I'm absolutely delighted to finish 13th in the final and end up 2nd in semi-final 1. I think this entry was a risky one because of the unusually long length of the song that introduces a distinctive soundscape. The instrumentation is jarring which I could see a few haters but overall a really unique experience, and I quite enjoy it ngl! I assumed Heat would do better but with this result I'm not sure I'll persist with this opinion! Anyway, I have to thank everyone for voting for Sovarasma, in particular Chante and Ivo for 12 points, Jacob, Sel and Oisin for 10 points, and Lars and antony for 8 points. I appreciate the high number of big pointers this edition and I hope to deliver something similar next edition. I have collated my next list of 10 songs for Xoculd Yumngokzit and I'm excited to share them with y'all. Final comments: This is not a bad winner though I couldn't exactly remember my detailed comments sorry Nevertheless, I remember this is a decent song. Congratulations Jakub for the win! I also couldn't recall this song at all sorry but I did give this 2 points in semi-final 3 and it's also a decent shout. Well done Julian for the 2nd place! This is the discovery of the edition for me, and a REALLY good find. It grew on me a lot as the contest goes by. I love a lot of things from this song. First, I love the chaotic sounding from the instrumentation. It consistently gives you the feeling of impending doom while the beats are kicking you hard. It draws my attention really well. Second, the vocals are unique. I like the delivery here which gives raw power. The vocal technique is not something you would expect in a pop song and I think a few may hate this purely because of that, but I think this forms the basis of the song and injects personality. Third, I love the message of the song, which is talking about reclaiming the term "patient zero". The description is a great read and gives a powerful context. I would've loved to discover this earlier! This is the epitome of CATHEDRALS. I think this song highlights the epic soundscape that they can create. It sounds somber with the strings, and the synths give this a dark, solemn but mesmerising feeling. The airy vocals are a nice touch. It just hits different. I wish they will be back bringing more powerful songs! This should've finished higher than 23rd and I'm shocked this barely qualified. Unpopular opinion but I think this is the best song by LVL1 so far. I agree the lyrics are not the most iconic here but in terms of the instrumentation and structure they pretty much nail them. A lot of their songs are known for the heavy use of synths but I think this song has the best balance, which doesn't sound too overwhelming. The structure is also the best arranged, which allows space for variation and it is the best-balanced structure which keeps the song interesting, something that LVL1 struggled with imo. 17th place is a nice start but I would've loved it to be higher. This is another discovery for me. I love the grunge rock feel here. It gives a lot of energy and character, and it stands out loads in the final. The vocals are also unique. It is another vocal style which you may not expect but it is also different to some other unconventional vocal styles in the final. I can hear a lot of new ideas in this song and I am hooked. Great find and a well-deserved top 10! This almost made the top 50 for me and tbf I would've put it in my top 50 in other weeks. I really love the part shown in the recap, which features the biggest drop in the song with the phrase "summer again" overlying the anthemic instrumentation. This part is the most memorable part of the song. Overall, the instrumentation is solid and I think the song would be even better with a stronger chorus melody but it got a lot of things done right so I cannot complain. Well done on the top 4 Kino! I probably have written a long passage about this song in NNMC a few editions ago and probably another similar passage for NVSC soon. The key message for this song is that this oozes style. The chorus blends the melody and the synths well and thus this part is memorable. It is somewhat catchy though it is a lot more lowkey. This is a well-produced pop song. My only criticism would be the lack of power in the final chorus, which would have challenged top 50 to me, alas. This is one of the craziest songs from Die Arkitekt. I'm hooked by the instrumental drop here. It goes hard with the instrumentation, which makes it really memorable. In full I couldn't exactly remember but it is potentially that the song fails to sustain for me, but I don't think it is a major issue because the drop itself is worthy of points and is a really good motif. I think this should've finished higher than 14th, especially when it came first in semi-final 1. I think this is quite a gap from Ninelie for my votes. It has a really nice memorable chorus but that's all I could remember sorry. Abdullah Siddiqui is a special artist and I loved his city lights last year. It has the kind of vibe that draws my attention though it doesn't really have a big moment from what I could remember. This is another catchy memorable song and another great attempt. The recap makes it shine, though in full it kinda pales a bit. Semi highlights: These two songs are good finds from this contest and they have something special in the sound, though I could see why they may not be favourable. Sadly it's another victim of Cantopop in FC. This is kinda catchy in the recap and the chorus is the best part of the song, but that's it really. In full it pales a bit, but I support Cantopop in FC and I hope one day we'll see one making it to the final. I thought these two songs are dead cert for finals. MASCARA hits hard and is some of the better songs of the genre. I'm very shocked to see this not going through as I think this has some big fans, and even think this will come top 10 easily. Échalo Pa' Ca is a song that I think is pretty accessible and catchy. I'm not sure what happened there.

The time is end of may. I go on insta and see a new post from Yeah Yeah Yeahs (who I quickly but surely declared as my fav american band of alltime) about a collab with Perfume fucking Genius (who surely is my fav artist ever). You can imagine how much euphoria and excitement I felt then and how it tripled when they posted a snippet of it on insta, I knew it would be sure contender for SOTY. They did not disappoint, I remember being compelitely fucking drunk when they finally released it on the first day of June yet I was still in absolute awe. I knew it could do well if I sent it but I never expected it to WIN god damn. Thank you everyone who voted for me, this win feels so good after all those robberies in the last three years straight. Don't know what my next entry will be but believe me, were it in a semi it would cement me a cozy spot in the rock bottom. I honestly thought this would win its an absolute CRIMEEEE it didnt even AQ, for now its settled as my song of the year so yea, I would even prefer it to win over me, literally the power this song holds is enormous, second verse gives me goosebumps every time, Katie's energy is impeccable and, you guessed it, "I want that girl right over there to wanna date" is a GOATed lyric a great song however I cant remember if I voted for it and surprised it got this high however I'm still really happy for it (please send Holter again now begging on my knees) both of those songs I considered sending and I'm cheerful about them placing so high probably my biggest discoveries this edition, all bangers non stop and would have loved them all to AQ its lowkey growing on me now in 2020 I would have definitely 12d it but even after those years it still holds up as a great, beaming with sheer sensuality jam with legendary bass robberies of this final as both deserved top 10 From semi I think the only one I definitely missed was although it only grew on me now GOD what a TRACK this is, FC aint ready for those songs yet Big shoutout to George and Alex for being my biggest fans this edition x Enjoy your stay in Sincuerello during the jubilee edition and remember to stream new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album on the last day of september as well as "Burning", second single of said album which is almost as amazing as your beloved winner of this edition. i'm off.
