Even though we had some national and regional anthems, Portuguese entry of this edition is probably the first TV channel anthem sent. The channel in question, SIC, is the first private channel of Portugal, launching on 6th of October, 1992. SIC showed some incredible growth of ratings, overtaking RTP1 as the most popular Portuguese channel by 1995 and retaining this position until 2005. Their second leadership period started in 2019 and continues to this day.

I didn't know this was by an African act. I thought it was coming from either France or the UK with African roots. And I'm surprised this hasn't been sent before. It's not like it were an unknown song in 2023. I don't think I know this song, yet it sounds vaguely familiar. It might, however, also be that the instrumental part we hear in the recap reminds me a little bit of It's a shame. Originality ftw! and They sound scarily catchy already.
