Croatia won't take part in #9 for obvious reasons; but will be one of the firsts for #10
It was announced yesterday evening that HoD's of Croatia would switch from #10 onwards due to scandals in the voting. Now the new HoD announces that Croatia is obviously not going to take part in #9 due to the switch, however, he does mention that HRT will be one of the first countries to confirm for the 10th edition once the submissions are open, due to new popularity within the country. 


Croatia debuted in the 1st edition of the Northvision Song Contest, and has only qualified on one occasion.

Results of the second semi final revealed; Croatia is out of the grand final.


Not so long ago, the results of the second semi final of Northvision Song Contest were revealed. The ten lucky qualifiers were: Andorra, Luxembourg, Spain, Liechtenstein, Italy, Sweden, Moldova, Russia, Iceland and Finland. Which means Croatia failed to qualify for the 3rd time in a row.


Croatia wasn't a popular favourite when going into the 8th edition, which is maybe why it failed to qualify. However, the new HoD hopes to send songs that people will like, and maybe boost Croatia's luck a bit.



Like said, there'll be no participation in #9, but HRT plans to broadcast the 3 shows and a 10th participation is more than likely.

Croatia opts for an internal selection for #10!
It was revealed today by the Croatian HoD that Croatia would be using an internal selection to select the act to represent the Balkan country. Croatia has been using an internal selection since their debut. 


HRT opted for an internal selection due to financial difficulties and a public poll stating that an internal selection should be used to select the Croatian act, instead of a national selection, as the public are not interested in it. The poll was:

Should Croatia bring forth a new national selection, or stick to internal?
Yes! - 44%
No, HRT should continue using internal selection - 56%


Artists are beginning to send their applications to HRT, along with the suggestions made by other NBU members. During the course of #9, a shortlist will be made, and eventually, the Croatian singer will be known.

Croatia WILL host a national selection for #10!
It was just announced in Zagreb today by Hvratska Radio Televizija (HRT) that Croatia will NOT use an internal selection for #10 as the new HoD planned! The broadcaster decided that a national selection format will be used instead, as a poll showed that the majority of Croatian people who watched North Vision Song Contest #8 saw that national selections bring a variety of good and bad results, some referring to Norway, Sweden and Liechtenstein, as their national selections brought them 1st, 3rd and 4th respectively. 


The name of this new national selection is still not decided, but HRT is going to release more information after the first semi final of Northvision Song Contest #9, where a confirmation will also occur! HRT is not going to release any further information until the duration of #9.

Nationality of the foreign act is now revealed!

Although her announcement will not come until the first week of August, HRT would like to reveal a spoiler about the nationality of the foreign act that will compete in Sounds of Croatia #1. 

HRT decided to keep the foreign act Yugo-style/Balkan-style, and for that she is from Macedonia (FYR). She was sent to the NBU by HRT and was kindly accepted. HRT could not hold negotiations with MRT because MRT is not in the competition, and it's current HoD is about to change. On another note, she will be singing in Macedonian, another Slavic language; Croatia intends to make Sounds of Croatia #1 a full Slavic language National Selection by having Croatian and Macedonian. 


Her identity will not be revealed until the first week of August. However, HRT assures you, you won't be very disappointed.

Sounds of Croatia #1 will start probably this week.
A discussion between the delegations of Croatia and Ireland have both agreed that Sounds of Croatia #1 will officially start probably this week. HRT is in contact with RTÉ due to problems with providing a recap for the show, and RTÉ agreed to help out for HRT. Due to planning of their own, the selection was delayed, however it is likely it will begin this week.


HRT and RTÉ hope that you enjoy the selection, as it's rumoured in #11 there will be an internal selection for Croatia. But early days, we don't know our exact plans yet.
All I can say though, to juries is to plan your votes! Since Christian is back, we'll have Switzerland as a jury still, but if he fails to vote, HRT will just go with the original jury votes, or if needed, will add the results of a televoter for the Swiss jury place.

Croatia will broadcast the Pre-qualification round, plus broadcasting schedule.
It was just announced today that HRT is going to broadcast the Pre-qualification round for North Vision Song Contest #10. The overwhelming interest in North Vision in Croatia has led HRT to broadcast all shows, delay or not. Furthermore, HRT will not apply to host the event, because of financial restraints for hosting Sounds of Croatia #1, however they do wish good luck to all nations who will apply, and may the best one be chosen.

Furthermore, HRT has also released how Croatia is going to broadcast the 10th edition under new HoD management.


Semi Final 1 - Full show will be broadcasted live.
Semi Final 2 - Full show will be broadcasted on delay, depending on timing.
Final - Full show will be broadcasted live.

Semi Final 2 may only be on delay due to the fact that Croatia is not participating there, and also programming at that time may interrupt the broadcast. HRT will release more infos soon.

Although NVSC #10 has not started, and Croatia doesn't even have a song yet, plans for the 11th edition are underway.


It was rumoured that Sounds of Croatia would not be held again, but these were false. It will be held again, but this time there'll be no need for a recap as the concept will be different from our first edition! HRT's financial burden has not effected the national selection process, as it highly was rumoured.

HoD of Croatia, Dylan G. has stated ''Our national selection is a success. However due to complications, there's going to be a slight change in the format of the selection. More will be released at that time, probably after the 1st semi final of North Vision Song Contest #10. We still want to hope that you like our national selection, and also the new way that Croatian music is being promoted.''

Neda is ready to tackle the semi final tomorrow!
The excitement is just filling up. Tomorrow, officially, the first recap of NVSC #10 will start. Fans in Croatia are extremely excited for the event, ever since returning under a new HoD, and good reception for their song selected by the Sounds of Croatia selection. 
Furthermore, Neda is in great form to say that she's ready to ''tackle'' the semi final tomorrow; ''It won't be an easy competition, but I'll do the best I can, and make the Croatians happy. I'm not uneasy, but when in front of 9,000+ people I will be!''

Sounds of Croatia #2 format to be released tomorrow or Tuesday
After further planning and thoughts, HRT will announce the format of Sounds of Croatia #2 which will take part in Dubrovnik. This will come of course with a confirmation of Croatia's participation. Stay tuned.
