25/03/2015 Wrong Direction?

Eyes of many fans will be in floods of tears tonight after British boyband One Direction have announced that they are continue as only a four-piece, following the leaving of Zayn Malik. Zayn has decided to leave after five years and has said that One Direction has been "more than I could ever have imagined" and that he feels he has made the right choice.

Malik left the world tour and returned to the UK last week to defend his relationship with his fiancee, Perrie Edwards from Little Mix.

Teamed up with the BBC and our NVSC UK team, we are pleased to announce that the UK will be holding its first ever NVSC UK Music Awards, celebrating music from our UK lands, around Europe and also across the world. That's right, not only will we have artists who have competed in NVSC, but we will have artists from outside of the NVSC realm too.

12/04/2015: National Selection Search

Although we have already revealed that the gorgeous Ella will be represeting us in Kazakhstan (congratulations once again) - we can exclusively reveal this morning that after a long and hard meeting last night, the UK will be returning next edition (NVSC 15) with our National Selection - Battle for Britain 8.

We have already started our search team to find talented musicians across the UK and next edition we are aiming to go towards less established artists than that of BfB7.

We will still have our Fellow Commonwealth Act, however we may go back to using the general "Foregin Act" agreement with the NBU, allowing singers who have applied from

the United States of America to compete in the contest.

18/04/2015: "This is London calling"

The BBC and NVSC UK team are proud to announce that Battle for Britain 8 will be held in the capital of the United Kingdom - London. We are extremely pleased with the response of our British public and we're pleased to now tell you that the event will be at Wembley Stadium, offering NVSC fans an available capacity of 90,000 (Seated), 15,000 (Standing).

We also wish the best of luck to our brand new team member Laura Whitmore, who you saw announce the points from the UK for NVSC 13.

28/04/2015: So how will BfB8 Work?

The format of Battle for Britain 8 will be almost identical to the previous seven with just a small change to it.

This edition, we have two competing artists who will be in the Semi-Finals under the rules of Foreign Acts in NVSC. The two acts in from the

USA are yet to be announced to the public but have been confirmed by both the BBC and NBU.

We also will still have our act who we allow to compete as our guest performer under our personal license with the NBU - the Fellow Commonwealth Act. This is a singer or performer who was born outside of the UK but in a nation that was once part of the British Empire and is now in the Commonwealth of Nations. Acts that we've had in the past include Sia from Australia and most recently in Battle for Britain 7 was Jamie McDell from New Zealand.

The voting format will stay the same - 12, 10, 8 then 7 to 1.

The singers will be announced with excerpts of their competing song, they will then be randomly selected into a draw of what Semi-Final they will compete in.

We will then have a Grand-Final which will be hosted in London, to determine the act which gets the most points and will thus represent the UK at the competing location of the 15th edition of the North Vision Song Contest.

09/05/2015: Power to the ~~People~~ Nuns!

As we head further into the campaign of NVSC 14, the UK has had one of the biggest fan support showings this week for a tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Malta, which holds the famous Victoria Cross on the top left of it's flag, awarded from the UK for it's help to us during the world war, is sending a clearful message in their entry "love and let go" by the Ekklesia Sisters. More than 900,000 fans have requested the song in London alone via BBC radio and outside of London, it has had over 1.5 million requests to be played on BBC radio.

Forecasters are saying that it could finally be a good chance for Malta to get points from the UK and a time for the UK and Malta to show their friendship and loyalty once again.

From the UK, we wish the country Good Luck!

14/07/2015: The Battle has Finished?

There are talks today in speculation that the UK will axe their National Selection "Battle for Britain" following the negative response of the current winner Leona Lewis who is set to represent the country in NVSC 15 in Copenhagen. The BBC are disappointed by this and are planning to go back to their original system of internal selection. They are also looking at potential new systems to use in place of allowing the public and NVSC fans to be involved in the selection of the artists.

26/07/2015: Leona Set for Tour

Leona is ready to start her world tour, ready for her competing in the NVSC contest in

Denmark.

The tour started last night with a huge roaring welcome and standing ovation by her audience at the Metroradio Arena in Newcastle.
