WTF, the ignorance of most Dutch people  . It is officially recognised as the second language of The Netherlands. What you do is the same as saying  Catalan is not a language! BTW, if it is a dialect, please translate this sentences for me without using internet: "It is de boer like folle oft de ko skyt as de bolle." or "Ús freonen sykje ljipaaien yn 'e greide neist it hûs fan myn omke en muoike." You vote, willsong? |

Ignorance? You  Fries people needed to be agressive to tell us a thousand times you want your dialect to be called a language. It's the same with Limburgs; Limburgish people call their dialect a language yet it is a dialect, not a language. If you want an own language then you better directly get your independence. |

Actually, and I'm not making this up, Frisian is part of another subgroup of Germanic languages than Dutch, the Anglo-Frisian group, while Dutch is part of the Low Franconian group of the Germanic languages. This means that Frisian is more related to English than to Dutch. And you know, something like a minority language exists, it isn't like one country can only have one language, there's room for more. |
