The EBU may be trying to use this as a platform to launch an international version, because although Australia's participation has many benefits for me, it is absolutely ridiculous to let a country in who isn't European, yet alone Asian or North African.
Good thing for me though, ESC2014 was the first year ESC was broadcasted in NZ and now UKTV will be forced to show it again (good ratings) or another channel will definitely pick it up.
As for representatives, Delta Goodrem, Kylie Minogue and possibly Sia are the only ones with real chances of going (they won't send a nobody). They could host an NS or send perhaps a talent contest winner (Dami Im or Anja Nissen)

I still think EBU should focus on bringing back European countries rather than inviting Australia, then New Zealand, then Tuvalu...
