Antalorgia news update
Antalorgia goes through language crisis
Feelings of unity in the Republic of Antalorgia? Not really, at least not at this moment, since the people are currently torn between two sides in the issue of the national language.
One side claims that the usage of Russian is outdated and hinders international contacts, due to the fact that only two other countries have it as (one of) their official language(s). They claim that French would make a great alternative, not in the last place because almost everyone in the three easternmost districts (Razhnuga, Benelia & Trinovantov) speaks it fluently, which together makes approximately 75% of the whole Antalorgian population able to make themselves clear in French.
The other side has objected with the arguments that Russian is part of the Antalorgian cultural heritage, and changing the country's official language to French would cost the State millions, if not billions of Lyrii.
The Antalorgian Parliament will surely vote on the solution for this problem after the summer recess.
One minister killed, another prosecuted
Following two conspicuous incidents abroad during the last few weeks, Prime Minister Sasha Arthur was forced to replace two of his ministers.
Firstly, Ivan Nudachyazal, the Minister of Education, Culture & Science was killed in a car accident on a motorway in northern Engeos the 25th of July. Nudachyazal was repatriated the next day and buried in his hometown Teltusk the 1st of August. He will be replaced as Minister by Mark Watney, professor of Aerospace Engineering and working for AKM, the Antalorgian space agency.
Secondly, Alexander Nemerov, the Minister of Warfare & Defence isn't allowed to continue as Minister due to prosecution. The 3rd of August, the media got wind of that the preceding weekend he had gotten drunk in a cafe in Vikerkaar and unveiled several top-classified military secrets concerning the latest contra-offensive weapon in the Antalorgian arsenals. This incident caused him to be called to appear in the Antalorgian military court in Tibrograd. Sasha Arthur has fired him and had him replaced by Allan Karlsson, a Whitelandic-Kordanese explosives expert at the respectable age of 110 years.
Alexandrovich challenges LW statements in history books
Yesterday, the former Antalorgian Prime Minister, Sergey Alexandrovich encountered some problems on his holiday in Malska. He was approached by a mob of Kordanese and Erezin secondary education students, who asked him why he'd had non-traditional marriage banned in his country during his reign. Alexandrovich was utterly surprised, and asked the students where they'd heard that. They responded by showing him a photocopy of the Lyrical War summary in the history book they'd used last year. After he explained their history book was selling rubbish and he told them how it had actually been, they moved away from his beachchair.
Alexandrovich, after having returned to his caravan, started a research, and found out many other history books from various other countries showed the same mistakes. He contacted some publishers, who redirected him to the Keyholian Lyrical War summary, which had been sold to them as "a detailed opinion of the events from a neutral point of view".
Since the Keyholian Ministry of Education wasn't available for comment due to the summer holidays, Alexandrovich today published a video on his YouTube channel, called "Mythbusters: The Lyrical War", in which he pointed out the flaws in the Keyholian opinion.
First of all, he condemned the subjective expressions in the first sentence: "LGBT rights being treated horrendously in Antalorgia". This completely contradicted the so-called "neutral point of view" offered by the Keyholian Ministry of Education.
Secondly, he read part of the next line: "after the bill to make non traditional marriages illegal, which passed, [...]". He explained that prohibiting non-traditional marriages had never been up for discussion in the Antalorgian Parliament, and that the law had only made propaganda of non-traditional relationships among minors punishable, which doesn't even look like what was stated in the Keyholian summary. He pointed out the same issue in the middle of the third paragraph: "Antalorgia announced the results of their debate, which showed that the parliament would ban non-traditional marriages among minors."
Finally, he quoted the last part of the first paragraph: "The war is on temporary hold, as Rainbow Islands is hosting the 15th edition of Lyrical Song Contest. However, it's expected to start again." The last sentence, the former PM declared, was not only completely untrue, it could also provoke hate towards Antalorgia as it now is.
At the end of the video, he kindly asked the Keyholian Ministry of Education for a reaction on his statements, as soon as they returned from their holidays. The current PM of Antalorgia, Sasha Arthur shared the video on his channel with the same message, along with already thousands of cosmopolitans.

ABO: new LySC lay-out lame on all sides
The ABO has reacted to the latest innovations of the Lyrical Song Contest:
When we heard about the new lay-out of the contest, we were almost knocked off our chairs in indignation, for more than a few reasons.
First of all, the participants in the 28th edition's semi-finals are too unequally divided... 15 in the first and 20 or so in the other two? It just doesn't make sense! Also, the criteria for ending up in the first semi-final could discourage countries to make their debut in the contest.
Secondly, the wildcard system has proved unreliable in the past. We still remember the quickly-set up wildcard in the 26th edition after the Falcon Republics didn't qualify right away, which caused a lot of unrest among LySC broadcasters worldwide and almost led to us leaving the contest.
Thirdly, the high number of finalists for #28 is still something we disapprove of, although it doesn't concern us as much as the other remarks we'd like to make.
Finally, we'd like to bring the issue that concerns us the most to the attention: the waiting list, invented after sky-high numbers of participants. The lowest-scoring countries will be forced out of the next edition and onto the waiting list. This will kill off all originality in the contest and have it replaced by an abundance of overused songs, which will surely influence the popularity of the Lyrical Song Contest negatively.
Also, Antalorgia is forced to withdraw from the 29th edition, due to not confirming our participation before the 1st of August. Why did it have to be so early? The contest won't start for another two weeks! We from the ABO deserve our holidays, too! But it doesn't concern us that much, actually, since we've lost all faith in this contest. That's why we'll move on to the Jafarian Song Contest, whenever it restarts.
