News Update from  Lidonia
Free Press allowed again
After the military government forbid the release of press productions with the official reasoning to "prevent Voxanyan Propaganda",
the new government law which restores the freedom of press came into effect today. Newspapers around the country were going into production again and the country was celebrating this important step back into a democracy and a constitutional state. The restorage of the press freedom happens in various phases, with this being the second one, after the loosening of the internet regulations two weeks ago. The third phase will start with the re-legalization of private television and radio broadcasters at the start of december.
These steps are big ones out of the dictatorian state in which the country was in the past, but there are still obstacles preventing a full adoption of press freedom. Still existing censorship laws and the fact that the private broadcasters have to buy a broadcasting license by the state, preventing everyone from being able to broadcast, have to be fought, yet the governemnt seems to be content with the new status quo. Fromthe big parties only SDPL and Greens spoke against these situtations pubicly.
First test of the success of new government with two plebiscites in a row, starting this weekend
A first mood barometer of the view of the new governemnt will be this weekend, as a plebiscite about the introduction of the Nordo takes place then. With the IPL the largest government party is against the introduction of the new currency which is already used in major NU member states such as  Fordia. Latest polls suggest that the opponents of the Nordo took the lead, which would be a big success for the governing IPL.
Another plebiscite will take place the weekend afterwards when the public will decide whether or not to introduce the death penalty. Two of the governing parties, the IPL and the ULP are in favor of the introduction, while the public seems to disagree on that as recent polls indicate. But the supporters of the introduction are catching up, and a positive result for the government in the first plebiscite might give the supporters a decisive push.
Both plebiscites are needed because of disagreements inside the government about these questions and the low expectation that such laws would pass in the senate. The plebiscites will be the first ones in Lidonia's history.
Nominations for Lidonian Music Awards open traditional awards season
Now, on to the culture. The nominations for the Lidonian Music Awards were annnounced, and the line-up includes many known famous Fantasian faces, within several ex-FC participants. With 4 nominations each the two  Atlandian acts PVRIS and Lorde are the artists with the most nominations. The most- nominated Lidonian artists are White Sea and iiris with 3 nominations each, and it looks after their battle at Lidonia's choice #2 they'll batlle for another time, this time for the favor of the critics who'll hand out this award. Also nominated are former FC-participants such as Elsa & Emilie,  London Grammar,  Loic Nottet,  Helolove,
 Exitmusic and  SIAMES. Additionally Venior,  Ines Brasil,  Of Monsters and Men,  Miranda Sings and the crew of "Sau Tarah Ke" are the nominees for the fan favorite's award, the only one who is not decided by critics but by an online poll. The current Lidonian FC representative MAALA bagged in one nomination as well, likewise former representative Lanberry.
The Lidonian Music Award will be handed out at the 16th of December and is the traditional opener of the awards season, which will then continue with the theatre awards on the 26th, and the TV and movie awards next year. |

COUP IN EVÄMAA, FUTURE UNCERTAINTHE REGION FORMERLY KNOWN AS MIDIMERI - After a surprise uprising by unknown forces, the Government of  Evämaa has fallen and acquiesced to the new powers that be. Nothing is known about the group, their members, or their motive. Throughout the past month, they've acted in secret to take power in the various maani and last night, they reached the central government. However, they've seemingly come peacefully. Upon leaving office, the former President of Evämaa urged the citizens to face whatever was coming with bravery, resolution, and compassion.
Evämaa in its current form is over. Whatever happens next is out of the control of the state. But by leaving, those in charge trust that whatever is in store for this beautiful country is going to be incredible.

 NEW HARISH ISLANDS FLAG ANNOUNCEMENT
Today morning, 26 December 2017, Harish government presented the results of a referendum, and 68% of Harish people voted to change the nation flag.
The last flag had green, red and pink bars, respectively getting smaller, while the new flag has a
bigger white bar with a green leaf on it, and a small green bar below it.
The green and the leaf present how important the nature is in Harish Islands and how much people care about it here.
The new flag will be the official flag when the 11th edition of the most popular music show in Fantasia - Fantasia Contest begins.

Dījhòng Úi Sīnkôuyû Wángguó.
An earthquake recorded at 7.0 has hit Eastern Shinkoyu. Buildings in poorer areas and smaller towns compared to large cities are feared to have collapsed and emergency services are all on work to rescue casualties. Although the earthquake was felt in the capital Hwajinglong, no buildings have fallen and no casualties are reported there. The city is being used as a main port for casualties to go for medical treatment.
Tremors were recorded to go as far as South-East Lakadamia. Since the earthquake striking at 4:13am this morning, there have been 24 aftershocks.
Police and ambulance service have confirmed 193 dead at this time. Mostly from small villages in the mountains near the epicentre. |

"OUR FUTURE IS NOW CERTAIN"
Following an announcement on 27th November that a surprise revolution had overthrown the old Evämaa government, the day has come for the new democratic government of Niolskiaj to come into action as a new state. It is believed that the group of revolutionaries had reacted quietly and secretly over the course of October and November but seized power peacefully and have the intent of improving the lives of all Niolskiaj people.
The state of Niolskiaj is split into two regions - the Southern region is known as Tadejia and its most common languages are Rassiyese and Niolrassiyese, and the Northern region is nown as Somnia and Engju is most commonly spoken. The capital city, Drukana, is in Tadejia but close to the "border" between the two regions. It is not known yet as to whether Niolskiaj will maintain the previous Evämaan relations but all will become evident in the coming weeks. |
