Kerwan says NO to Centralia! After yesterday's national referendum, where people have been asked to cast their vote about whether Kerwan should join the Centralian Union or not, the national TVs were all broadcastingthe exit-poll results, which initially seemed to be in favour of the Island's access to the Centralian Union. TNKNEWS.kr reported at 18:00 (local time) that the "Yes" votes took advantage over the "No" votes by about 15%, while at the same time the national broadcaster, KTV, reported the same outcome, with just a slightly different score of 58% for "Yes", and 42% for "No".Even though more people were expected to cast their vote at that time, the partial results seemed already accurate and definitive. However, the final results clearly showed the Kerwanese population was eventually against the country's access to the Centralian Union, with 56.3% votes for " No" and 43.7% votes for " Yes". The national presence at the voting polls was of about 88.3%, which is a huge record, considering that many past referendums were cancelled for not reaching a majority presence (50%+1) at the voting polls. The highest presence was registered in the Randenburg municipality (94.3%),while the lowest one was registered in the Astralinn municipality (61.8%).
The referendum results are yet to be validated, approved and signed by the Kerwanese President, Rikko Rebane. Joining the Centralian Union would have entailed pretty big changes in the current Kerwanese legislation, as people would have been able to travel to the country without any visas or permissions, and part of the Kerwanese budget would have been allocated for scientific and military programs, of which the latter, moreover, is of no interest for the Kerwanese population.

Robot Taxi cars to be finally implemented on the streets of Kalidonlinn! Kalidonlinn residents will be ferried in driverless cars, which, if successful, could be exported into other countries and territories.
Robot Taxi, a collaboration between ZMP, a developer of automated vehicle technology, and national car manufacturer Kelwitt, is expected to intensify the global race, involving a large number of firms, to launch unmanned vehicles onto the consumer market.
The driverless cars will be fully implemented on the streets of Kalidonlinn by the end of 2015. Our main goal is to replace our old taxi cabs with efficient, environmental-friendly and fast automated cars. We have loads of energy, why don't we use it to make our cars run on it?
- says Arvo Selteel, the head manager of Robot Taxi.
I think both tourists and residents will be pleased with the idea of having brand new and totally safe means of transport. All you have to do is wait for a taxi to arrive at one of the 84 available R-Taxi spots around the city, get into the car, select your destination and pay a fee to make the engine run.
50 cars will circulate around the capital city from Monday onwards, but the number will rise up to 3500 cars by the end of 2015. As the cabs can only be driven between the R-Taxi spots, the local authorities will also create more and more docking stations: this number is expected to rise from the already-built 84 R-Taxi spots, to around 800, in the whole city.
If the project will turn out successful, transport in driverless cars will be extended to the whole country and will additionally become free.
While Kerwanese developers have faith in the car’s GPS, radar, sensors and stereovision cameras, according to media reports, attendants will sit in the driver’s seat during the journeys in case human intervention is needed.

New version of the Kerwanese flag!
An historical moment for the Republic of Kerwan! In fact, the national flag that had been in use since 1858, has just been changed to a new one.
The "Kalidon Crosses" is still the main concept and the theme of the flag, but the colours, the coat of arms and the size of the crosses have been slightly changed in order to enhance the brightness and the general visual effect.
You can compare the two versions of the national flag below:
