"To IMF Head of Delegations and in to who this may concern.
We have been extremely proud to be part of a community type music contest and feel honoured that you, the mostly European community, have invited us Egyptians back to your contest.
Sadly, we have had to make a choice.
In recent weeks, Egypt was the land where Russian airliner Metrojet was attacked by the evil ISIS, they detonated a bomb on a flight from our beatiful coastal town of Sharm-el-Sheik heading back to St Petersburg.
For this reason, we have to take security seriously and think of the safety of all of you in Europe, also with the attacks by ISIS in France, Lebanon, Iraq, on-going war near to us in Syria and now an al-Qaeda attack yesterday in Mali.
For this reason, after this edition, Egypt will no longer compete in IMF. To keep all of your supporters safe.
Thank you for your time.
Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Affairs Minister, the Arab Republic of Egypt. "
