North Vision Song Contest
Voting System Explanation
In order to cast valid votes to the North Broadcasting Union during all
of the North Vision Song Contest shows, you need to follow a few steps. This thread
is meant to give a full explanation of how the new voting system works.
Viewers in every participating country are invited to vote for their favourite entries,
making up the Televoting rank. Additionally, a National Jury Voting (with each of its members
being determined in advance by each National Broadcaster) runs simultaneously
by rating all the songs separately.
Televoting
Viewers at home can vote via Televoting by sending SMSs (text messages) or
dialing a phone number code for each country. Voting numbers and their respective
costs may vary depending on each national and local network operator.
After the voting deadline, all the televotes are put together, representing the general
preferences of the viewers. The Top 10 favourites are awarded 1-8, 10 and 12
points, with 1 point being awarded to the 10th placed song in the rank, 2 points to the 9th,
3 points to the 8th and so on.
Jury Voting
Each National Broadcaster has to designate a Professional Jury Panel composed of
five musicians citizens of the respective country. The Panel must include a chairperson
and all of the members must abide by variety rules in terms of gender, age,
musical influences and background, and must not be related to eachother
nor to any of the contestants in the competition.

Professional Jury Members are required to rate and rank their own favourites from

Results
Both sets of 1-8, 10 and 12 points from Televoting and Jury Voting will then make up the full voting
of every country. This means that the points must not be combined, but presented separately instead.

Rest of the World Voting
The North Broadcasting Union has developed a way to let fans from all over the world vote in
the competition without taking part as a (Co) Head of Delegation. A special website will collect
all the votes and create a separate 1-8, 10, 12 point-system rank which will be added to the
overall results.
Here are a few things to keep in mind about the Rest of the World voting:
• The system will only be applied in the Grand Final. Due to realism purposes,
this is made in order not to let people who are in one of the Semifinals

Scoreboard
The Final Results will be presented, as always, with a scoreboard.
The Rest of the World votes will replace the obsolete Web Award Results and will be
added to the leaderboard in the very beginning of the voting.
Then, all the National Juries will cast their votes: the 1-10 points will appear on screen
with the 12 points being announced by a spokesperson.

After all the professional juries have voted, the combined Televoting Results of all countries
will be added to the scoreboard. The hosts will announce the points of the last placed country
in the Televoting and will then work their way up to the first place. The system was conceived
to keep a high level of excitement among the viewers, as the winner of the competition
will not be clear until the very last moment.

Additional Information
The revamped voting system fits the North Vision Song Contest, since it is now easier
for every country to develop split results without having to combine any averages.
All the countries can give out points to more than 10 contestants, meaning no favourites
will be left out or overshadowed. This works well in countries which have multiple Co-HoDs,
since everybody can now have their say on the results.
Last but not least, the results will be presented in a more exciting way, with countries reaching
the 300+ points milestone far more easily.
