They have picked other artists in the past and there is no reason why they can't do it again, regardless of population. As for the fee, they can afford the cover otherwise they wouldn't be participating. Maybe they didn't find any other artist who wanted to take part, as the artist had to pay for the participation in San Marino, ever thought of that ? Not many artists are willing to pay the money and SMRTV didn't come up for it either The broadcaster should've thought about that in the first place, if they coughed up the money to participate then they can, and should, cover all expenses as far as I'm concerned. San Marino isn't a charity case. If they can't afford it, or couldn't find someone else, then there's nothing wrong withdrawing and trying again next year. |

Welllllll.... grr.  . Let me explain. I wasn't a super-fan of ESC until 2015, so I missed out on Valentina's other entries. I don't know what her other songs sounded like, thus I have no preconceived idea of how this ranks amongst her other ESC songs. Yes, it's TONS better than Serhat. However, Serhat was a joke entry turned into a somewhat-serious disco entry (but let's be honest it was still a joke entry), and because it was silly, it almost worked (I think he got 13th in SF?). So San Marino, they're trying disco/funk again, but this is a serious attempt, and idk if Europe wants disco/funk hits. There's some harmonies going on here that will be difficult to pull off live, especially if there is a lot of dancing (I hope there is!) but I'll be honest here, I hope this doesn't qualify. It's in the 2nd semifinal, so only 10 of 19 songs can go through. This isn't in the top half of songs, even if you think this is the weaker semifinal. |
