I can't believe this!! It seems that Iceland wants to flop once again. Battleline, Golddiger and Í stormi were so much better than Choices. I can't explain this. It's not a bad song but imo is so boring and outdated and of course, his live vocals could be better, specially at that high note.

cliché. cliché. cliché. That's basically all I can say to this song. Let's get the positive sides out first: He has a great voice. That's it.On the negative side: The production is ugh, the lyrics are mediocre, and the song is just plain bad.
The music production on this song honestly just sounds like a 1 minute verse, and then a 2 minute chorus. I can see that they were trying to go for a verse - chorus - post chorus - chorus - verse - chorus situation with this song, but the music makes no clear indication when the verse/chorus starts. It's confusing and messy. The lyrics are - again - cliché. Not exactly bad, but it's your regular-old-peace-around-the-world song. In every single language, There’s a word for love and for blame, Different voices, cultures, and people, and places, Inside we’re all the same. It's nice to see peace songs once in a while, but at least make them sound unique. In the words of Wiwi William "it looks like an elementary school assignment". Both the elements of production and lyrics makes the song just look highly basic, messy, and - dare I say it again - cliché. imo, despite me not liking this years Söngvakeppnin that much, Iceland has a lot better choices than this, tbf Iceland will highly struggle to qualify this year, as I cannot see anything in this song that would stand out in a Sea of Semi Final 1 songs.

From my Tumblr: Hello, Slovenia 2017 wannabe. Make this four non-qualifications in a row. I’ve a real soft spot in my heart for Iceland. Now that Portugal have finally won a contest, it’s time for Iceland (or Malta) to come out and take that crown. They’ve both come so close on multiple occasions. And in the last two years, despite being two great songs, Iceland’s been shut out of the final with inexplicably low scores. How did Greta Salome finish below Montenegro again? Svala was one of my favorite electro songs to reach Eurovision, and she deserved better. But now they’re going to be shut out of the Final for a completely different reason: because the song actually sucks. There’s songs in this year’s contest that answer deep, societal, and philosophical questions threatening today’s world. France, for example, approaches the Syrian refugee crisis; Italy approaches pain and suffering with strength and vigilance. Iceland’s coming out here like, “Guys! We can do it! Just believe in yourself! Make a choice! Be the best ever!” It is the Disney, pre-teen anthem of this year that nobody wanted or needed - it’s cheesy and campy. Simple as that. And Ari cannot stop smiling throughout the entirety of the performance (is someone instructing him to do that? Is it even authentic? Even in the MUSIC VIDEO he’s doing it.) I’m not convinced of his vocal quality - although the high note is impressive, it was very shaky and untrained in the National Final. The lyrical quality will be absolutely demolished by the juries. “So many are dying in vain, together we can ease the pain, if somehow we can ease the pain” is one of the worst intentional lyrics I’ve heard in a long time. It’s not so much the sentiment, but the phrasing - easing the pain of someone dying in vain ISN’T GOING TO KEEP THEM FROM DYING. Look, Ari presents the “adorable” appeal to many fans in Iceland who may remember him from The Voice of Iceland, and it could be what helped him garner the votes needed to take the crown. Case in point: the most up-voted comment on YouTube to his song is “At least he’s cute.” I’m not even joking about that!!! It’s really the only good thing I have to say about this; at least he’s having the time of his life. His song hearkens back to simpler days of Eurovision, when it wasn’t such a colossal event… but those days are long gone. Eurovision 2018 is a strong year in a few different ways, one being that there aren’t any really “bad” songs, and on the flip-side, there are very few standouts. So it makes this all the more embarrassing for me and for Iceland in that they needed to reach the absolute rock-bottom before something is done about their poor track record.
