Marika Hackman  Marika Hackman is an British folk and indie rock singer and songwriter. Despite being born and raised in the  UK, her father is Finnish and she has always maintained a close relationship with Finland, having lived there for lengthy periods from childhood to early adulthood. Though she doesn't really speak much Finnish and hasn't been to Finland since starting her career in music, her interest in taking part in the Finnish selection bloomed after she found out that her labelmate, Mirel Wagner, was also going to participate. "Time's Been Reckless" is an uplifting indie rock song with a rather unconditional structure. The song is off Marika's latest album, I'm Not Your Man, which is largely themed around Marika exploring her sexuality, expressed through a selection of fun, bouncy folk and indie rock songs. "SYLIIN"
Vilma Alina feat. Jon-Jon Vilma Alina is a Finnish pop singer, who rose into stardom following the release of "Juha88". Her latest release and SMK song, "Syliin" also features Jon-Jon, a Finnish actor and singer, and member of the Finnish band Roope Salminen & Koirat. "Syliin" ( In Your Arms), is a synthpop ballad in Finnish, with an powerful explosive chorus. |

Mira Luoti  Mira Luoti is a pop artist originally from Pori. She is best known for having been a member of the group PMMP, who also represented Finland at the 16th North Vision Song Contest, but failed to qualify. Her debut album was released last year to some success. "Musta laatikko" ( Black Box) is a progressive rock song. The black box, also known as a flight recorder, is a metaphor for memories, particularly bad ones. "SMELL"
Femme En Fourrure Femme En Fourrure are a Finnish electronic duo, consisting of Sandra Tervonen and Juuso Malin. Both are producers, but Sandra also provides the vocals. Femme En Fourrure has also founded their own music label, FEF Corp. They describe their music as "made for DJs and catwalks, also for nightly promenades and oceanside sexin'." "Smell" is a deep house electropop song, with a decidedly dark atmosphere. "Smell" also sounds like something out of Banks' earlier repertoire. |

The Holy The Holy are a Finnish indie rock band, based in Helsinki. Formed in 2014, with a desire to make humongous, noisy songs and to create magnificently large soundscapes, the band consists of Eetu Iivari as the vocalist, Laura Kangasniemi on the bass and synths, Eero Jääskeläinen on the drums, Mikko Maijala also on the drums and Pyry Peltonen on the guitar. "This Will Be the Day That I Die" is an atmospheric indie rock song, with a delicate guitar progression and faded vocals. It pulls influences from all over to create something unique. "SMOKE SIGNALS"
FEELS FEELS are a Finnish electropop duo from Helsinki, featuring singer Sofi Meronen and keyboardist Mikael Myrskog. FEELS describe their music as epic, gripping and toned with northern melancholy. Some have heard similarity to Banks and Kate Boy, with a strong Scandinavian grip. "Smoke Signals" is an electropop song, with a retro tinge and an explosive chorus. The song is off the band's Butterflies extended play. "SOS"
LKA LKA is the stage name of Laura Kaarina Autio, a Finnish electropop singer, songwriter and producer, who was born and raised in  Tokyo, Japan. LKA is no stranger to SMK, as she already took part once before, in #22. She and singer HANNAH formed the songwriting & production duo Sky & Fey Music. "SOS" is her brand new single, and while she doesn't have an album planned, she plans to release 5 more tracks over the course of the next 5 months. "NUKKUMAAN"
YOUNGHEARTED Younghearted are a Finnish indie pop group, featuring Reeta Huotarinen as the vocalist, Atte Ranta as a guitarist and backing vocalist and Emil Korkiakoski as a guitarist. Originally the band wanted to release music in English, but then decided to release their first and second singles, "Hyva näin" and "Hetkeksi" in Finnish, the latter of which was a commercial success. Since then, the band has released all of their music in Finnish. "Nukkumaan" ( To Sleep) is a soft, sweet and mellow indie pop song. Lyrically it's about not being able to get over a breakup. JURY APPLICATIONS STILL OPEN! 9 countries will be chosen as international juries for this edition of SMK. Depending on the amount of applicants, a maximum of two spots may be taken by associate broadcasters.
