Tbh. Idk if that counts for me as well because I never kept track of that. And even less as I qualified only 4x during the 5th and 6th decade together. If I may be honest then I expect nothing special for me this time just because it's a special one which are never going well for me. I already noticed that I usually fail in a semi-final when I dislike most of the songs. Pretty logical, because if I don't like the other songs, that also means that most of players engaged in my semi have opposite musical tastes and will probably not vote for my song. And the opposite is also true: I often made good results (and even won my semi-final sometimes) when I was engaged in a semi with many strong songs (in my opinion). That makes sense. Haven't thought of that at all.

Voted in all three semis!
The second semifinal was the most difficult to vote in. If I could, I would give points to every song in that semifinal. All the songs are great.

I just had an interesting idea (at least I find it interesting) for future special editions (I know that this idea hasn't been used anywhere, because it's not easy, but is quite interesting actually): the idea is that we use a singer/band that has gained more popularity in an abroad country than locally. And the artist has to be living in the country you represent... which means, I for example won't be able to use Viktoria Modesta, because she's living in UK and obviously has gained more popularity there than in Latvia. The same would go for artists like Laura Rizzotto etc. It has to be a local artist... it can be a well known or unknown artist... only thing you'd need to prove is - is he/she (or a band) really more popular in an abroad country? One way to find that out would be looking at either the amount of concerts, prizes and other success rates... If the amount of concerts is the criterion, you can't take for example all concerts around Europe vs the local ones... for example - for us a popular "market" is Russia. So the criterion would be - there have to be more concerts planned in Russia at the same time frame as in Latvia... I hope the idea is clear... I mean, if Latvia has at least 2 artists that would fit the theme, I think other countries won't have problems with it as well - maybe only some of the very small countries... Obviously it's just an idea, but we could take it in consideration!

Even with the easiest themes, some people are "struggling" to find a song and go for lame choices even which they could've avoided by doing a research. It is not a bad idea definitely but it is just not doable if you ask me.

It is doable and there's actually a lot less research to do than it might seem at the first look (as I mentioned - I know at least 2 latvian artists without any research), but I get your point and totally agree with it - people are quite lazy, even though they all like to get good results.. they just don't want to work for it - they want to get them just by pure luck... maybe it works in contests like this, but when you face the real world - you have to work hard to get success! Unless you're born to rich parents that just give you everything you want...
