DAY 2
Dýria rallied from down a goal to tie Corzazjan 4-4 in what surely will go down as one of the greatest group-phase matches in World Cup history The Southern Sakodan team went on to look incredibly dangerous on the counter, putting a lot of pressure on the Dýrian players.
That pressure was short lived however as they started to find their feet. Dýria started horribly in the first half, but came out firing in the second. They dominated possession early before a clever set-piece move saw them getting their third and fourth goals of the night. Dýrians seemed to have everything under control but then with two minutes to play one of the Corzazi players was fouled in a dangerous area. The penalty kick decided the final result. The ball was sent into the top corner to make it 4-all.
The second game of group A resulted in another tie of the day. Shinkoyu registered a 1-1 draw vs Hwaesonna in Tergå on Monday. Hwaesonna had a lot with the ball but weren’t doing much with it. Some erratic passing from them wasn’t helping in the slightest. And when it seemed likely that both teams are heading into the break with scores level, Hwaesonna took the lead in the last minute of the first half thanks to a superb outside-of-the-boot curling shot. In added time, Shinkoyu won a penalty of their own thanks to VAR for a handball by one of the Hwaesonna players. It was duly converted.
Current World Champions, the United States of Eldance took to the field with Zylofonija at Lytte’s Rødant Stadion. The debutants of the 4th edition of the World Cup played their first ever FANA World Cup Match and shocked everyone. The stakes for there two countries were polarized, It was obligation for Eldance to win, where as, even a draw against the World Champions would have seemed like a fairy tale for the team of Zylofonija. It was a great first half of football and Zylofonija were immaculately poised and composed throughout the game, despite going three goals down in the early stages. The history was made for Zylofonija after scoring an equalizer. Defensively, It was an open game for both sides.

slides in with role play Manager Stein warns Players and fans ahead of Match against Ydiwealth
DermoThe Lidonian manager Marc Stein used the final press conference the day before the kick-off of Lidonia's opening match at the FANA WC 2018 to warn his players. "Ydiwealth might not have a top star, but they have a very even team. It's difficult to single out a weak spot" the national team manager told reporters. "Their manager is really clever and has proved himself very well in the past" he added later, additionally calling the opponent "the best team from pot 3". Stein is under harsh criticism in his home country by both fans and reporters. He took the job after the last WC, when his precessor Hrubes stepped down after reaching an as surprising as great 2nd place. The new manager managed to qualify for this WC, as well as reaching respectable results like an 1-1 draw against Prunia and a 3-0 win against Decoria. However he is majorly criticized for what is seen as a bad attacking play. Especially against smaller teams the national team lacked the flair needed to break down their defense, resulting in games like a 0-2 loss against Namimori or a 0-0 draw against Glacea, which didn't manage to qualify for this WC. For the upcoming game in Dermo Stein can use all of his 23 players. Responding to a reporter he claimed that "all players are fully match fit". The manager said that no players will be rested in the next match "the opponent is strong, there's no chance to rest a player even if I could" he said. This means that also the player Kralek and substitute Goalkeeper Olsen could play in the next match after missing out some training sessions due to minor injuries they received in the last test match against Sylvan. That match ended 1-1 in a game where Stein decided to test his "second suit" and give his reserve players some playing time ahead of the WC. In total 15 of the 23 players that got second in the last WC one year ago are in the squad for this years tournament. The most major name of the new guys is definitely striker Hugo Madsen. With 24 goals in 24 appearances he was the domestic top scorer in the national League last season. Despite being unlucky yet in the national team kit, having only scored twice in 10 appearances, Madsen is expected to start against Ydiwealth. Another newcomer who is expected to start us CM Bašarov. The 22-year-old left a big impression in the aforementioned match against Sylvan, assisting the only goal Lidonia scored. He'd make his first starting eleven appearance. On the other hand Lidonia will miss the former DM Svoboda a lot. The captain of the squad that got the second place one year ago has retired since then, leaving a big hole in the team. Many attribute the lack of any creativity in the team to his absence. Goalkeeper Ruzicka will most likely take the armband in the first match.
