DAY 1
The whole of Wedse celebrated this evening to celebrate the first match of the 2019 FANA World Cup. The opening match took place in Stadözh Giina in the Capital, every Football fan in Wedse was hoping for this moment for years. Finally, in front of 65,756 people, it came true. The match commenced with two pretty balanced sides, each being fully confident in their teams success. Each side of the stadium had its fare share of attempts to score, but both goal keepers were able to block these chances. Eventually coming towards half time, Wedse scored the first goal of the tournament from a corner kick. The stadium was in high spirits when the second half began - only for this to be spoiled by a goal from a free kick conceived by Dyria. Wedse replied with an instant counter attack and made the score 2-1. By the closing minutes of the game, fans were in awe with the Wedsen team, and they managed to sneak a third in after yet another corner. This made this final score of the opening match 3-1 to Wedse.
Wedse will compete against Torlova in their second match on the 12th December, if they win then their chances of making it to the knockouts will be very high. For Dyria, their odds of advancing are still within reach - they will need to win their next matches to have a chance. They face Trivania next in Zaxat Akhena, Wedse (Capital).

DAY 2
An excellent start for Aquia in group B as they take the 3 points over beating Yster 3-0. The game was pretty biased through the whole game as the runner ups of the 2018 edition scored in the opening minutes , and the following goals in the second half. However, a penalty was offered to the Aquian side - sadly not ending in their favour as it was saved by the goal keeper from Yster.
Yster are in a dangerous position in the group at the moment, if they loose their next game then their World Cup dreams will be more likely over. As for Aquia, they have an advantage by having a clean sheet match as well as the 3 points - definitely the best start they could ask for.
————————————————
We return to Group A where Torlova took the 3 points over their victory from Trivania. During the first half, the immaculate Torlovan strikers managed to score twice from two counter attacks. Only in the second half Trivania was the stronger side where they created a goal from a free kick. Golos Akhena was very heated up until the 90 minutes were over, as many Trivanian attempts were saved by the goal keeper. The result was a 2-1 win for Torlova, and many Trivanian fans left the arena feeling bitter.
Torlova face hosts Wedse in their next match, an exciting match for all viewers as they battle out for the top spot in Group A. For Trivania, they will face Dyria next, and a win for their side is crucial if they wish to advance to the knockouts.
————————————————
Moly-Boronia took on Drevona, who ended up in the round of 16 in Levalle. They both arrived in Wedse with a lot of passion - which was shown in their football on the field. A decent start for Drevona as they conceived the first goal - but the joy for Drevonan fans was cut short after a penalty was given two minutes later for Moly-Boronia. Half time arrived and the score was 1-1, but that did not stop both teams wanting the win. In the 50th minute, Drevonan fans were in shock after the ball pounded into the net from a far away shot by Moly-Boronia. All was looking good for them to take the 3 points until a counter attack by Drevona allowed space to shoot which lead to the draw of both sides.
Both teams are equal at the moment, so each still have a good chance to qualify thanks to the loss of Yster in the previous Group B match.

DAY 3
Group C started with the match from the 2018 World Cup winner, Niolskiaj taking on debutant Kazkya. The match was one sided the whole time, as Niolskiaj dominated attempts, possession and goals. They scored in the second minute after a mistake from the Kazkya Goal Keeper. This followed in the 50th minute with a long shot goal, and 65th minute strike from the penalty spot. The reigning champions certainly lived up to their expectations, and already appear to be a hot favourite after their 3-0 win.
Niolskiaj will compete against United States of Eldance (The winners of 2017) next in Mashgaikhaltai, a match no body would want to miss! Kazkya takes on Corzazjan.
————————————————
We stay in Group C where 2017 FANA World Cup winner US Eldance took to the field with Corzazjan. A very harsh match as both teams had their fair-share or attempts. Several corners later into the second half, the perfect header from USE allowed them to take the lead, and eventually gain the 3 points.
The US Eldance will have to work extra hard , as the pressure is on them to win against the current champions in order to grab the first place position in the group. Corzazjan will have a slightly easier match for now, with many fans hoping for them to finally gain some points in the 2019 season.
————————————————
It was time for Group D as Sincuerello competed against Fordia. The match started in the newly made Zaxat Akhena in the capital, and sincuerello took a controversial lead in the opening minutes from a counter attack, which many Fordian players claimed to be from an offside position. The VAR team decided to analyse the claims but favoured the goal instead, which meant it was 1-0. Boos could be heard all round the stadium which created a very stale mood on the field. This pressure from the fans could’ve been the reason for a Sincuerello loss, as Fordia clearly started gaining confidence, which resulted in the second goal in the match. Second half kickoff was quite underwhelming as neither side was taking chances to claim the 3 points. However, towards the closing half a speedy strike from Fordia allowed them to win the entire match, which certainly made the arena happy.
Fordia will challenge Evergreen next, hoping to keep up their reputation. As for Sincuerello, they will face Sirenforest next which they will hope to get a good result in order to have a chance to qualify to the Knockouts.
