Timeslot: 4:00
I think Björk is the kind of artist that needs no introduction. The song was written two months after the breakup between Björk and her longtime partner. I chose this song because it is amongst one of my favourite songs. I find the string live version more superior than the studio version hence the title, in case you wonder.

Evanescence - My Immortal (2:08+)
This version of My Immortal is on Evanescence's album Synthesis. I picked This song and band because not only do I think they fit this challenge well with the lovely string flow in the song, but they mean so much to me o on a personal note as well. I dont wanna go into to much detail but it is my mums favourite band and singer before she passed away so I thought that they would be the perfect choice and this song's lyrics mean so much to me. My favourite is the chorus lyrics.
" When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears And I held your hand through all of these years But you still have all of me"
Everyone can relate to this song, Everyone has that person that they can come to wipe the tears and fight the fears away. That was how my mum was with me.
I hope you all enjoy this lovely rendition of this song
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone
These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me
You used to captivate me by your resonating light
Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me
These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
You still have all of me, me, me

ME AND THE DEVIL
by Soap&Skin
Timeslot 0:55+ This was not an easy selection for me.
In the end, after dismissing songs that had violin elements but were not sufficient enough, and violin songs that simply fell flat, I'm sending one of my beloved artists, Anja Plaschg herself - even though I am not the only one loving her, which may come off as pandering, but the sheer impact of the song upon one's grace can not be understated and if it means my downfall after last week, so be it.
In typical Austrian beauty, 'Me and the Devil' enhances its rocky, dark ambient feelings with violin elements throughout the entire song, and is one of Plaschg's more known artworks, being performed live and televised in Austria.
Click the spoiler for the full lyrics:
Early this morning When you knocked upon my door Early this morning When you knocked upon my door
And I say, "Hello Satan, I believe it is time to go"
Me and the Devil Walking side by side Me and the Devil Walking side by side
And I'm gonna see my man Until I get satisfied
See, see You don't see why And you'a dog me 'round
Say, don't see why People dogging me 'round
It must be that old evil spirit So deep down in your ground
You may bury my body Down by the highway side You may bury my body Down by the highway side
So my old evil spirit Can Greyhound bus that ride

■ The Irrepressibles ■ "In This Shirt" ■ This song brings the violin to the centre-stage throughout the song to convey the haunting theme of heartbreak and saudade throughout the song.
Full lyrics:
I am lost in our rainbow Now our rainbow is gone Overcast by your shadow As our worlds move on
In this shirt I can be you To be near you for a while In this shirt I can be you To be near you for a while
There's a crane knocking down All those things that we were I awake in the night to Hear the engines purr
There's a pain, it does ripple Through my frame, makes me lame There's a thorn in my side It's the shame, it's the prize
Of you and me ever changing Moving on now, moving fast And his touch must be wanted Must become through your ask
But I mean Jake to tell you That I love you - it never rests And I've bled everyday now For a year, for a year
I did send you a note On the wind for to read Our names there together Must've fallen like the seed
To the depths of the soil Buried deep in the ground On the wind I can hear you Call my name, held the sounds
I am lost I am lost in our rainbow Now our rainbow has gone I am lost in our rainbow Now our rainbow has gone
I am lost, I am lost I am lost, I am lost I am lost
