Auckland, 12/08/2019 - We're really delighted and proud to announce that the band Openside will represent New Zealand with their 2017 song:
I FEEL NOTHING
TIMESLOT 2:15 - 2:40
THE SONG
I Feel Nothing is one of Openside's most famous songs. Released in 2017, the music video shows the band performing in the deserts of California. Two shots show the main singer, Possum Plows, proudly waving a trans flag as a symbol of his sexuality. In fact, he came out as nonbinary. They are very famous in New Zealand among the emo and lgbt kiwi youth.
THE LYRICS
I am not the one you should be thinking of You kissing her? I swear, I won't get jealous See, I have my fun and then it's time to run You can't escape someone so bleak and selfish
Don't you go and trust me now I'm full of dust, I'm full of doubt I promise you that it won't work out
I take another pill and feel nothing Dancing for the thrill of it I take another pill to feel nothing I feel nothing
You are not the one I should be thinking of You play it cool but underneath you're hellish Say we've had our fun, but who are we kidding? We dress it up all sparkled and embellished
Don't you go and trust me now I'm full of dust I'm full of doubt I promise you that it won't work out
I take another pill and feel nothing Dancing for the thrill of it I take another pill to feel nothing I feel nothing I guess that we could call it and just try to be friends Yeah, baby i'm a mastermind at playing pretend And I'm dancing for the thrill of it I guess that we could call it and just try to be friends Yeah, baby I'm a mastermind at playing pretend and I, I feel nothing
We wish best of luck to New Zealand and to them!
- the HoD, Alex Memphis

IT'S NEXT TIME FOR NORTH MACEDONIA!
Next Time is a rock duo based in Skopje. The duo consists of twin brothers Martin and Stefan Filipovski. Stefan fronts the band as the lead singer, while Martin plays the guitar and sings back-up vocals. Discovered by composer and songwriter, Jovan Jovanov, the Macedonian duo released their first single in May 2008, and has been active in the Macedonian music scene since then. Now they have been selected to represent their native country North Macedonia, aiming for international success.
The song that they will be performing in the contest will be titled as "Nesto ke te pitam babo" (Tell me this grandma), with featuring vocals from the talented Viktorija Chochoroska. MRT wishes them best of luck for the nation's return to the contest.
Timeslot: 3:46+
Full message of the song (if you really care lmao)
The song portrays a questioning of an elderly lady by a Turkish officer who demands that she reveals which Macedonian fighter was hiding in her house. The defiant old lady responds that yes, she harbored Todor Aleksandrov in her home, and he left leading his soldiers up Mt. Pirin.
Next Time and director Ognen Shapkovski prepared a typically powerful and emotional video, portraying the VMRO komiti riding up a mountain, and the questioning of a woman which more closely resembles the Communist era persecution of Macedonian patriots than the Ottoman tactics. A theater in Skopje was packed on Monday evening for the promotion of the video, and the comparison with the on – going mass arrests of opposition activists by the Zoran Zaev regime resonated strongly with the audience. Social media are buzzing with people asking where they can download the song for a ringtone. And the regular daily press conference by SDSM spokesman Kostadin Kostadinov in front of the VMRO party headquarters in downtown Skopje was drowned out today when someone played the defiant tune at him.
