In my town we have way too many supermarkets for our size but not a single SPAR....
To be honest I hope it stays that way, not because I hate SPAR (it was an alright place to go late at night when I visited the UK), but rather because all our chains are locally owned Icelandic businesses who open at reasonable hours for their workers to have an excellent work life balance - If it means the guy serving me can go home at a fair time and have a proper life with his family I have no issue waiting for 11am until the shops open.

Then we have REWE a big Supermarket Group! They are BILLA, MERKUR, Penny Markt, ADEG and BIPA and a Part from Sutterlüty! The REWW Group is on the 1st Place % from the Supermarket in Austria, than comes SPAR!

Was not a McDonald's closed in Iceland?

Was not a McDonald's closed in Iceland? Thats correct, McDonalds left 10 years ago! We have Metro which is the same basically but local ingredients and its more expensive (€12.60 for Big Mac equivalent meal) I've only been twice though as all 3 of them are based in Reykjavík - I live in the north of the country and its 6 hours away - I don't go to Reykjavík very often and when I do there's better food available for same price as that
