I did not know that everything happens in one day! Each topic has its own rules. The list was not complete when I sent my entry... This is one of those contests, where everything happens pretty quickly. Especially because there's only 30 spots, whilst about 35-36 pretty regular players, so as the rule says: "first come, first serve". Plus, it makes you act even faster, if there are more spots reserved before the edition even opens. For example, if all those 5-6 left-out players submit entries before the deadline of current edition, that means all their spots are reserved for the next one, which means there would be only about 23-24 free spots left. That makes you act quick. In WWWWSC there are semifinals, which means more participants, so it takes longer to fill those spots, especially because there aren't really any "extra" players, sitting out for an edition like it is here, so no one's really in a big rush...

I think this took part already. Where? Can't find it on the Wikis. I know that Stephanie sent the Spice Girls once and it was in one of the very early editions (might be #4 or #5). And to my knowledge it was with Spice up your life.

I was always 100 % sure it must have been that one song. But after Jasna's post I started to have doubts. Thanks for clearing it up and sorry for having caused anything. :/

Qara Dərviş (Black Dervish) is the first singer in the world to mix metal music with ghazal, an important poetic genre of Middle East/South Asia originating in Arabic poetry. Ghazals were heavily influenced by the ideas of Sufism, a mystical trend is Islamic philosophy. Azerbaijani literature, especially in medieval centuries, became a home to the ghazal genre, and it still maintains its significance in the culture of my country. The importance of Sufist influence is notable in the stage name of the next Azerbaijani representative as well - Dervish refers to those choosing to live Sufist ascetic lifestyle: depriving themself of materalistic possessions, taking a vow of poverty and engaging in spiritual practices.
The first (demo) album of Qara Dərviş, which premiered in 2008 consists of sufi* metal songs, where Saxtakar (Forger; Fraud) is one of my favourites. The singer was only 18 years old when releasing this song and this fact solely is very fascinating to me. My expectations are not that high with this song, but I decided to go with a song I love very much. I wish best of luck to every participant!
Timeslot: 00:41+
For the picture, please click on the spoiler below:
* This song is written based on the ideas of a religious philosophical viewpoint called Hurufism, a branch of Sufist mysticism. Hurufism stands for the idea of unfadable appearance of God, which is manifested in human beings, the best of the Created. Therefore, hurufis recognise human beings as "portrayals of God", and hence, hurifist literature (in particular, ghazals) equates the image of humans to that of God, going very further than the Islamic scholastic theology. Proponents of Hurufism also believed in letters (letters as in alphabet) in which God was believed to embody. The current entry of Azerbaijan, while deeming humans as a key to absolute truth on the one hand, reflects on the evil sides of people, on the other. The chorus of "Saxtakar" can be translated as following:
Unutma, mən Tanrıyam! (Don't forget, that I am a God!) Unutma, mən Saxtakaram! (Don't forget, that I am (also) a Fraud!) Updated my comment, adding information about the next Azerbaijani representative and entry as well as timeslot and a picture for the recap.

Running order is decided! After 8 editions we have a new debuting country! Welcome Jamaica After a long break Lithuania returns, welcome Other returning countries are Costa Rica, Malta, and United Kingdom, welcome back Because of so many returning or debuting countries, we had to leave some behind. They are Australia, Greece, Indonesia, Serbia, and Switzerland.
Because of the high average running order position the following countries will perform in the first half: Country | Avg | Costa Rica | 19,0 | Germany | 18,5 | United States | 19,2 |
Because of the low average running order position, the following countries will perform in the second half: Country | Avg | Ethiopia | 11,6 | Latvia | 11,8 | Taiwan | 13,0 |
If not enough or no countries have average below 13,5 then we won't have countries allocated in the second half. And here is the running order of the 77th edition:
Pos | First half | Pos | Second Half | 1 | Armenia | 16 | Finland | 2 | Jamaica | 17 | Latvia | 3 | Italy | 18 | Bosnia & Herzegovina | 4 | United States | 19 | Lithuania | 5 | Germany | 20 | Canada | 6 | Iran | 21 | Spain | 7 | Turkey | 22 | Montenegro | 8 | Costa Rica | 23 | Croatia | 9 | Cyprus | 24 | Ethiopia | 10 | France | 25 | South Korea | 11 | Azerbaijan | 26 | Mexico | 12 | Malta | 27 | Taiwan | 13 | United Kingdom | 28 | Chile | 14 | Philippines | 29 | Austria | 15 | Ireland | 30 | Slovenia |
