Glaíolan TV (GTV) The Glaíolan people held a festival yesterday celebrating their national animal, the "Glaíolan Snake", in various large cities throughout the country.
The Glaíolan Snake is symbolic towards the Glaíolan identity, as it represents freedom and these snakes freed themselves from very traditional captivity processes in the Glaíolan Indigenous communities, these communities were inspired by this animal during their exploitation, when they were in a destructive empire. The Indigenous communities harnessed the snake's resilience, with some support from the migrant community, freed themselves from this empire. The snakes vibrant pink and yellow colours, reinforced this, as these snakes are unique compared to other breeds. Therefore, reminiscing the unique Glaiolan identity. To celebrate this animal, people dress in pink and yellow and commonly attend or watch carnivals, specifically in inner city areas. Some of these costumes can be flamboyant, further symbolising the uniqueness of the snake. These carnivals tend to have firework events in the evening. These images below demonstrate some examples of these festivities. Caption: A woman celebrating in Arvá Caption: Firework display in Glaiolan City However, some people celebrate this modestly and attend their local church service, and have readings of Fantasian Bible in relations to revolution and sacrifice. Other modest ways include, specifically for less religious communities, include a small meal in a restaurant (Sometimes have a specific menu for this date, consisting of Paella and Wine). In 2020 Attendance figures were at a rise about 2 million people attended the carnival in Arvá, the largest city in the country. However, alternative celebrations were at a rise too, many citizens celebrated with the Indigenous populations, due to the history of behind this. There was also a decline in attendance of religious celebrations in churches, this could be explained through the rise of secularisation in the nation itself.
However, these festivities can have negative impacts, especially celebrations with large attendance. This year, mainly had noise complaints regarding the firework displays, due ethical issues surrounding animal welfare, particular domestic animals, such as dogs and cats. These noise complaints were also prevalent among families and communities with members having sensory-based impairments, such as Autism. Many of these communities held 'no noise' or at least minimal light shows, as an alternative or held silent discos throughout the country.

Glaíolan TV (GTV) News - 21st January 2020
President, Breógan García, has enacted a new policy for the country, to increase healthcare spending in the country. The Servizo de Saúde de Glaiola (SSG) is already free, but the quality of the services have decreased throughout the years. This spending is specifically targeted to improve disability services and diagnosis, paediatric services, mental health services and pay among for their employees. This was due to the many complaints of some abuse in the previous disability and mental health services department; any staff member who now commit such offence, will be barred permanently from the public health sector and will be imprisoned at least 1 year. They were many devastating stories about this abuse, for example some disabled people were subject to unconsented conception, severe isolation and ableist slurs. Many citizens are very satisfied of Garcia's enactment and was heavily praised by disability rights activists, due to the vulnerability of some of the disabled people and the removal of harsh and unwilling methods.

Glaíola TV: NewsUpdate on the Primark Situation
The leakage in Primark has been dealt with, it was found that the fluid on the floor came out of a human and leaked due to not going to the bathrooms on time. The offender will remain anonymous to the public to preserve their identity. This Primark store, is now clean from any leakages and has installed cat litter boxes, to prevent further leakages. Educational Changes from the GovernmentThe government has initiated some changes towards education of the country. They have reduced university tuition fees, to raise standards and improve accessibility to higher education, to facilitate the competitive job market. They have introduced an optional volunteering class introduced in most educational institutions, to facilitate students gaining relevant experience for their future careers and job prospects. Language education in the Latinican is mandatory, as it is one of the nations official languages. However, Glaíolan is still optional, due to the decline in speakers and therefore, becoming less relevant. This has received some backlash, by conservative groups, as an attempt to preserve the national identity. Other optional languages for education still include Lakadamian, Aquían and Everish.
Housing CrisisThe prevalence of housing is at a shortage, where the house costs are rising. This is due to high demand from an expanding population and lack of labour workers to build the houses. This has crippled young people and therefore, still live their parents and have extended social transitions. Many parents have started 'renting' their own children, to protect their pensions and to improve household quality. Furthermore, the preservation of some beaches and rainforest areas has prevent houses from being built in these areas. However, the government is in talk for citizens to ask for permission to build in some of these areas, where citizens must consider the environmental impacts and therefore, they make their houses more environmentally friendly.

Sociology to be taught in all secondary schools.
The Minister of Education, Martiña Bares, proposed all secondary schools to teach Sociology, as it is a important subject to understand the different dimensions in society, through being taught about different perspectives of how society is viewed and learning about various social inequalities different social groups face. She states this because, she wants society to be more involved in social justice, political engagement and more informed with current news and affairs. This will be proposed all schoolchildren aged 11 to 16, who are in secondary education, however, she does allow the subject to be optional, when 13-14 year old students pick their options for the following year. She believes this proposal will raise the standards of political engagement in the country, as 39% of young people, aged between 18-25, currently do not engage with politics.
Public Transport to turn electric.
The Chief Environmental Officer, Artús Abráldez, is proposing a switch to electric public transport from gas-based public transport by 2025, due to the increased risks of climate change from the carbon emissions. The electricity will be powered by solar panels via charging stations based in the main stations for these vehicles in the country. Abráldez wants this be proposed across all buses and trains throughout the country and suggests this will improve the atmosphere in the country and hopefully leading efforts to improve the atmosphere globally.

Mini Challenge
The task was for the queens to do an icebreaker challenge, to get the queens to know each more. The queens were asked to 'read' each other in the shadiest way possible, based on first impressions, where the shadiest queen won the challenge. Dettol Spray won the challenge after reading Miss Steak, where she said "Miss Steak, did you name yourself that because you look like a train wreck.". Dettol received a year supply of luxury tea bags from TeaLux.
Maxi Challenge
The queens had a design challenge, where they had to make 3 aquatic themed looks: "Sea Creature Galore", "Beachwear Eleganza Extravaganza", "Mermaid Couture". There was an argument in the workroom at the time, after Flo Piedisk called out Miss Steak for lying down lazy, when all the other queens were working hard on the outfits. Miss Steak claimed that she had finished her garment, as she wanted to achieve a minimalistic look, but the dress was low quality and Flo encouraged her to work on a bit more and she refused.
On the Runway, Claw Mya Día did an outfit transition that wowed the judges for the theme "Mermaid Couture", where she 'lost' her Mermaid tail and 'grew' her legs, where did a death drop. Likewise, other notable outfits included Kronikk Klit Stimulation's "Sea Creature Galore", which was a dark and sinister outfit, which had many tentacles around her outfit, creating an interesting silhouette and Salma Nella's "Beachwear Eleganza Extravaganza" outfit, which was a high-fashion, sparkly, and 60s beachwear inspired look. Claw Mya Día won this maxi challenge, with Salma Nella, Kronikk Klit Stimulation and Flo Piedisk placing highly. Claw Mya Día recieved a 3 expensive lipsticks. On the other hand, Miss Steak, Katy Hairy and Onion Bhaji were not so successful on the challenge. The rest of queens were marked as safe.
LipsyncThe judges wanted to see Onion Bhaji and Miss Steak lip-sync for their life, to decide on who should be eliminated. The queens lip-synced to "React" by The Pussycat Dolls, where Onion Bhaji won the lip-sync, therefore, Miss Steak was unfortunately eliminated. Dettol Spray giggled, when Miss Steak was leaving the stage. Miss Steak wrote on the mirror, "You made a big mistake, eliminating me hunni, love Miss Steak xx" Progression

School children's screen time is often politicised in country, as children take up too much screen time and affect their schoolwork, mental and physical health. The Minister of Education, Noemi Cedillo is adding this to the curriculum for PSHE subject in primary and secondary education. It will teach children how to stay safe online, so they avoid being exposed to indecent images and grooming. It will also help children regulate their screen time, by encouraging them to use daily planners which include times to do homework, eating and exercise. Many parents are happy with this idea, as it ensures children are happy and healthy. However, some parents and special school staff disagree with these measures, as their children are non-verbal, due to a specific learning difference and rely on screens to help them communicate, as they have various software on them. Some of these children also find it difficult to learn sign language. Cedillo responded to this issue, as some digital wellbeing elements can apply to them, but not all and highlights the difficulties faced by parents of non-verbal children. She received praise from this community.
