I have a late realization that we have all of
North America in the final. It's been a long while since that happened.
So
Sweden won, but since you all know Jens loses his hold of Sweden after this edition, that means whoever becomes the new user will be the one pre-qualified for next edition's Grand Final. Let's hope Luca and Niall get those draws done ASAP.
Now, onto my thoughts:
Expected last place, but boy, that's a dismal score of 13 points.
Incredibly underrated. It should've been in the Top 20.
Out of all the NS rejects, this got the worst result? I have to disagree, this was a bop and there were far worse rejects this edition.
Host entry expected to flop as always. A nice but forgettable Marina song tbh.
This should've placed significantly lower than Croatia at least.
I was prepared to see this in last place. Still perplexed it qualified, but I could care less right now.
Okay song. This was the ESC reject that came the closest to NQ-ing (placed 9th in its semi). Also just realized Lithuania sent two ESC rejects in a row. Bravo?
Definitely the best of the direct finalists. Still not a very striking entry though.
Meh. My ears think this is a basic electronic song.
Ugh. You could've sent Call For Love.
But you still have next month. This is fine.
UNDERRATED. Portugal keeps slaying me with these out of the box entries.
Cami's worst result? Whatever. Still her worst entry for NNMC yet. I don't think very much about this.
You're a fool if you thought this was going to be in the Top 10. It's a mediocre pop song if you take away its unique elements.
This slays my life. I wish this placed a few spots higher.
Beautiful song. I'm okay with it placing 15th. At least it's in the top half.
Like Israel, I also find this basic. Overrated overall. Have fun with Australia next edition, Alex!
UNDERRATED. This for me should've been in the Top 10 at least. Beautiful production with good vocals.
I didn't give it points, but Indonesia really did snap with this amazing ballad.
So close to the top 10! We deserved ethnic realness, and this deserved the recognition.
This is the kind of song that would do well in online contests but not in a live one: a track with some awesome drops. Great studio version worthy of the top 10.
I think Faroe Islands has found its niche sending these dark-sounding kind of songs. You generally do well with these. Well done! I like it.
I am all in for this festive, traditional sound.
I'm so happy to see this in the top 10.
It was guaranteed to do well. I'm more impressed that LOONA managed to send a banger that I end up loving. Congrats on 7th!
STAN LOONA. This was the only ESC reject (I know it's a stretch since it's a Sanremo song.) I would accept winning. No other reject came close to this quality. There's so much Italian flavor and I stan it so hard.
Y'all probably boycotted Italy because you didn't want NNMC to go where it's badly affected by the virus. Taiwan, you're doing so well recently.
This was one of the songs I wanted to give points to but ultimately didn't. Congratulations on a deserving 5th place.
Should've won. I repeat. It should've won. Blanche has grown so much musically.
After slaying with Eefje last edition and now this, I wonder if Belgium will continue to impress me again.
Pleasantly surprised this didn't place second.
I'm not sorry to say that it's not a great banger like Wear Your Love (which I still stan one year later) or React (a certified bop), so I'm glad this didn't win.
Overrated to death. The best placement I would've accepted for this would've been 11th-15th.
A true comeback story! USA returns to the final after a NQ streak, and the Pussycat Dolls returned to the music scene. Add to that, you placed 2nd!
I think it paid off, Toby.
Congratulations on second place!
I love this song very much.
We knew this was coming.
But surprisingly, you only pulled away once we got to the last several votes, so this wasn't quite the landslide victory I expected.
I almost gave it one point, so I certainly acknowledge it's a good song, but Sweden could've gotten my 12 if Kingdom Come was sent.
And
Dotter makes NNMC history by not only joining
Delta Goodrem and
Betta Lemme as two-time winners, but she also won in two different years (2017 with "Evolution" and 2020 with "Bulletproof"), and exactly thirty editions apart (#13 and #43). An NNMC legend! Congrats, Dotter! I hope the next user for Sweden can live up to how well this country slays in this contest.
