GHANEEMA will represent Kuwait! Voting in Kuwaiti Sound closed recently and the votes of 6 juries were counted and a winner was found, with a margin of just one point, it was GHANEEMA (full name Ghaneema Al-Qudmani) who took victory. Carol Souki , who participated in the 17th edition, came 2nd.
The reaction from the Kuwaiti public has mostly been positive with most happy that a fully native Kuwaiti singer will finally be sent to the contest. However, others have said that the choice is too risky and that Kuwait will struggle to reach the final, believing that Carol Souki was a more safer option. The full results can be viewed here. Who is GHANEEMA?GHANEEMA is an independent local artist born and raised in Kuwait. Her constant source of inspiration comes from her surroundings and personal experiences, where they are formed into a song or in an art piece. She hopes her work inspires people’s lives. She has performed in many venues in Kuwait and the surrounding region.
She will sing her winning song, 'You Got Me' in Uzbekistan.
(Recap: 0:40+)
We wish her the best of luck in Uzbekistan!
