Les Gardiens du Silence - Maayan

Les Gardiens du Silence is an alternative rock, world music, ethno-spiritual and new age band from Azerbaijan, created on the basis of music and culture of Ancient Egypt, Sumer, Babylon and Greece. The members of the band consider their music as a way to the peace of the soul, meditation and self-realization. This song has also participated in one of the former National Selections of Azerbaijan for the WWW Song Contest, and scored in the middle. Nonetheless, I thought the theme of this edition would be a great opportunity to showcase the talent of the band. I am not really sure in which language this song is sang; my preliminary research has shown that "Maayan" is a Hebrew word meaning "Spring". It could very well be that the song is in one of the following ancient Semitic languages: Akkadian/Assyrian/Babylonian or Sumerian as they have a number of times stated that many of their songs are in ancient languages. While I can not provide the exact answer to the question of the language, I hope this explanation is enough for the song to be accepted as a next Azerbaijani entry. In case it is not, please let me know so I can change the entry asap.

I've been in this forum for almost 5 years, I've participated with Mexico not only here, but in several others, I could say I've easily sent almost 200 different Mexican songs to contests. But I had never sent a single song that wasn't in Spanish or English, not because I choose not to, but rather that it's ridiculously difficult to find a song from Mexico sang in a different language

After quite some research, I found ONE artist who has some songs in French, only ONE  If it wasn't for her, I have no idea what I'd have sent instead, or if I'd have to skip the edition

I never thought I'd ever be sending something so 'French' to a contest

So the Mexican entry is going to be:

As a very particular note: Mexico has +50 dialects spoken by very small minorities within the country and there are TONS of songs in those languages, HOWEVER, all of them are considered ''official'' languages, thus I wouldn't be able to send them

Ireland finally debuts  

I know I mentioned I wouldn't take part, but the theme was too good to pass on. I love the idea of sending a song in a language that's not native to a specific country, so I decided that it was time to debut in the contest.

Originally I wanted to send a song I found in Greek which I randomly found a few days ago while looking for an entry, but it's bilingual and mostly in English. I'll save it for WWWSC in the future.

So instead, I will be sending Róisín Murphy and her song In Sintesi (in synthesis) which is sung in Italian. It's from an Italian EP which she recorded, called Mi Senti including 6 songs; 5 of them were covers of classic pop songs from Italian artists, and one was an original song - In Sintesi is the original song she recorded.

Well, apparently Russian is referred to as a "significant language" in Ukraine and not as an official language so guess you can just not send songs in Ukrainian and English. However, for the 'spirit' of this edition, I would personally suggest going for something different to Russian personally (unless of course you cannot find anything else...).

Kyrgyz entry
(probably the last before I withdraw completely from WWWSC)

I'm sorry for the unoriginal choice, but it's nearly impossible to find Kyrgyz singers (or singers with such roots) who sing neither in Kyrgyz nor in Russian.
So I go with Jamala who is the only Kyrgyz singer singing in Ukrainian (to my knowledge).
