I guess Italy will withdraw for a couple editions, I do not literary know what kind of entry to propose and I am honestly quite tired of collecting mediocre results.

That's an honestly disappointing comment coming from someone who won the contest in the past, got some other top results and qualified to the final in 16 of their last 20 participations.

I'm really tired of all these negative comments and reactions, really destroys the fun of hosting. Almost nobody ever posts some "thank you" or something encouraging, everyone always just cares about their own result, everything else is meaningless. I don't even know why I still keep on hosting this contest if nobody seems to enjoy our work anyway.

That song is indeed from imo the weakest* semi-final, but looking back I also feel like I overrated that song.

*There isn't actually a weak semi-final this edition, but the other two were just stronger.

Time for me to make a comment about the results so far. It's probably going to be "a little" longer than usual - also just for knowing all songs lol.

In the Wildcard round! I'm not gonna lie, but this time I'm a bit disappointed about the outcome because I thought I'd stand a chance with Maryne. But well, people have spoken and they preferred (at least) 7 other songs to the final. Most of them are actually amazing btw.

Okay and now "some" text.
I'm not very surprised about the qualification of Romania, Chile nor Germany. For me these were the most predictable ones. In fact the only one I was really surprised about is China and seeing Spain making it directly with a rather "unusual" entry (speaking of what people normally send for the country) makes me actually quite happy. And also the Philippines returning to the final after a while. As you can see I'm generally quite happy with the 7 finalists. The only one I find overrated (but highly predictable like I mentioned before) is Romania.

As for the other wildcard round qualifiers Samoa came like a real shock to me. Like I wrote somewhere earlier I totally thought this song was never going to qualify at all. But I'm happy to be proven wrong. As for I believe that in an edition of "normal" level Nathan would have definitely qualified. Guess it was kind of a victim of not enough spots ...

As for the non-qualifiers I must say that the only surprises are Montenegro and Croatia. For me Armenia and Indonesia were always obvious bottom 3 entries (together with Samoa where I was wrong so I may be off here as well) and Costa Rica is for me one of the "forgotten" songs if you know what I mean.

Finally I also took a look at my prediction from yesterday evening. And I must say that getting 5 / 7 right is pretty good.

Semi 2:
I'm okay with most of the qualifiers. With the exception of Sweden and Hungary all of them are still rather coming from the 2nd half of my top (yes I did make one). I don't want to make a special comment about them, but would like to particularly mention Taiwan here that made it with an entry that's (at least to me) very unusual. I'm also not sure what to think about the fact that Taiwan qualified directly whereas Armenia is already gone with an entry of similar length.

Just like everyone else, I'm really surprised seeing Italy, Moldova and Ukraine being eliminated instead. In other words none of the entries that are already eliminated (except Ethiopia) at this point was predictable. That would include USA if it were out and not disqualified btw. Instead after the announcement of the qualifiers I thought that the outcome regarding direct elimination and wildcard round was going to be the exact difference.

That also means that from my prediction (the list right here below) I got 1 less than in Semi 3. But 4 / 7 is still a really good outcome for me.

And lastly Semi 1:
First off I'm happy with the qualifications of UK and Mexico. Also being honest, I can't really say too much about the other qualifiers because (except Ireland) I don't have them in mind at all right now. However let me just drop that out of my top 8 only the 2 mentioned ones (plus Belgium) made it somewhere. However I guess that's kind of okay, since this was the imo probably most balanced semi of the edition with me disliking only 1 song.

And just like in Semi 2, I also managed to predict 4 / 7 finalists.

Also from the 3 songs that made it to the Wildcard round I find Poland really underrated and would've liked Belgium to be already in the final. But guess congrats for qualifying somewhere with a live recording.

The outcomes that shocked me the most are definitely Brazil and the Czech Republic. Like can we please switch them? The rest of the non-qualifiers aren't surprising me too much.

And can we also talk about how strong this Wildcard round is. I wish ieveryone competing there good luck - I think we all need it.

Wow, thanks to all the players that supported Azerbaijan Again, after the announcement of Poland and Israel, I was not expecting to advance to the next round, rather predicted either Brazil or Switzerland to be successful enough. Finally, I would have loved to see Samoa (also because they were really close to making it) and Serbia (they got from me in the Semi-Final round, by the way) in the Grand Final.

In any case, thanks once again to those providing Azerbaijan with good enough points, and better luck to those who missed out in the next editions
