-Accra, 13.06.2020-
Despite a disappointing (but expected) result in the debut edition, Ghana will participate in the upcoming edition expected to be held in the neighboring Burkina Faso.

الجزائر تؤكد ذلك Algeria can announce their debut in the 2nd edition of Own Africavision Song Contest in Burkina Faso. The country marked its last participation in OESC with disappointment, failing to qualify from a semi final in which they were widely predicted to advance from. Despite the failure of the new delegation to reach an OESC final, they will continue with Algeria in OAfSC and hope to reach some needed success in the new contest. There were rumours that Algerian Music, the national selection used to select the Algerian entry in OESC 53, would return, but the delegation confirmed that they wanted to start from scratch. A selection will take place in similar format, but this time with only 1 competing artist, she is... Miraa May Miraa May is an Algerian artist based in England who will make you think, laugh, cry and feel. She takes inspiration from the North London streets where she grew up, from the friendships and the experiences of a life lived. Growing up in a multicultural and diverse city has allowed her to discover her love and passion for making music. She uses her songwriting skills as a form of expression and freedom. Her music is a combination of her London attitude, cultural surroundings and soulful influences. Despite spending most of her time in London, she stays loyal to her birthplace, often showcasing this in her music videos and lyrics with Arabic being present in some of her songs.
She is no stranger to the 'Own' contest world, having competed in Algerian Music just a few months ago for OESC, where she eventually came second with her song "Sad".
Her entry will be selected in the debut edition of Alnajm Aljazayiriu, the new national selection process for Algeria which is intended to continue for many editions to come. 6 songs from Miraa May will be in the selection and the juries will be able to vote for up to 3 songs in a poll. The songs she will perform are currently in the process of being selected. Stay tuned!
