I'm glad I qualified, although I'll be honest it was a bit unexpected... at the same time - anyone could've qualified from that semifinal... there was no weak song... Anyway, thank's to those, who supported So this is gonna be only my 3rd final since #75 and both previous times it was 23rd place... the question is - am I gonna get 23rd 3x in a row? Or am I gonna be able to get out of bottom 5 for a change? BTW, as someone asked for it yesterday in the chat, I would also be intrigued to see a list of all countries and their qualifying percentages (since edition #16, because there's no point in taking first 15 editions into the count) - after having a quick look around, from the most active players it seems like France is doing the best, while Armenia and Ethiopia might be having the worst qualifying percentages, but obviously this is just by having a quick look. Only proper calculations will tell, what's what...

I am going to make a post later today with the qualification percentages!

I know that we had been shown (by Balint?) such a table already once (last year or the year before?), but it'll be interesting how things changed in the meantime.

Anyone, who is IMF participant and hasn't seen IMF grand final results yet, DON'T OPEN THIS SPOILER BEFORE YOU WATCH THE RESULTS VIDEO, because it will spoil a few things! As for anyone else - feel free to open it, because it's interesting information: UK failed to qualify here with "Sweater", but WON the edition of IMF. Crazy, right? To be fair, similar thing (6th place vs NQ) happened with my previous entry... This makes me ask a question - which contest has rated both songs more accurately?

which contest has rated both songs more accurately? I don't think there's such thing as accurate in this situation. This is not sports and cannot be measured in any shape or form. Even if you submit one song to every single contest, the results will most likely vary. Sometimes a lot, sometimes less. If you find the same song in a few contests you probably don't always rate it the same, because it depends on the other songs. Sometimes I wish I could run a realistic simulation to be able to decide which song to send in which contest and in which edition, but no can do.

Sometimes I wish I could run a realistic simulation to be able to decide which song to send in which contest and in which edition, but no can do. Exactly and not only does it depend on the competition but also on who else is taking part in the contest as it is clearly not the same people and therefore not the same rankings. Also, as a matter of fact and since you've talked about simulations etc (the discussion is going scientific ), I can only say that those simulations or possibly predictions you are referring to are all stochastic, meaning that there's always some variability and nothing is 100% exact - that is practically impossible to achieve. Therefore, the best one can do is send whatever they like and think might stand some chances and then just hope to be lucky as well, since luck plays a very important role, whether we like it or not.

I'm out just like I always expected myself to with this song. Being a bit self-critical I'd even dare to say I'll stay below 10 points. I'm a bit too lazy to write more than just 2 lines lol. However may I just leave some surprise on the eliminations of South Africa, Malta, China and Sweden. On the other hand I'm slightly surprised that Azerbaijan, Brazil, Israel, Ukraine, the Philippines (all at least neutral), Serbia and Costa Rica (I find these 2 overrated.) qualified. And last, but not least Ireland is an entry I'm rather conflicted about actually (which is also why I placed it only in a lower top 10 myself) because for me could either use a vocal boost or whoever produced this should've set the music a bit louder. The way it is makes it rather weak ... Please note that I may only feel that way because I have the comparisons with Unbeautiful and Story of my life (and Thinking out loud, but Idk how much that one counts). Lesley's qualification was never in doubt though.
