Toronto, Canada - 4th April 2021

After Lili-Ann de Francesco unexpectedly (at least for us) won the 10th edition of Own Americavision Song Contest in Puerto Rico, CBC has confirmed that Canada will participate and for the first time ever, host the contest.

Lili-Ann achieved what Lights, Cœur de Pirate and Marie Mai came so close to doing before - she gave Canada their first ever victory in the contest after 10 editions of participating. This was quite unexpected for the Canadian delegation, but we are grateful to get the opportunity to stage the contest on Canadian territory for the first time.

While nothing with regards to the host city and hosts have been revealed specifically, there are of course speculations on Own fan forums. The city of Ottawa has stated that it would not submit a bid to host the contest, which now begs the question on which cities have submitted bids to stage the contest. Either way, we hope to know more information soon.

As for our act, it will be selected internally. It's unknown whether the next Canadian entry will be in English, French or another language. Stay tuned for more news!
