Sorry to bump up the thread but I want to give my reaction since I did it for the semis.
Congratulations on the win! I like that this song is really wild and the excerpt showcased this feature really well. It sounds overdone for me sadly which didn't get a point, but it is decent nonetheless!
Congratulations on 2nd place! Apologies this is a bit unremarkable when listened in full. However, I like how atmospheric this song is and this is probably why it seems to resonate well with voters.
I like the synths and the airy vocals. Sadly it is a bit over my head.
I like the ethnic sound here. It is also quite catchy. It blends the modern synths with the traditional instruments well. It hasn't wowed me a lot but this is very decent and I'm glad to have given 6 points in the semi.
I think this finished higher than I thought. I have a feeling some would perceive this as too repetitive towards the end but it doesn't seem to be the case. I really enjoyed this song and it got to my chart's top 10 for a week. The melody is really strong throughout and I like the use of synths here. The progression to the chorus is done remarkably well with the lack of drums, which showcases the synths. All in all, it is memorable.
This is robbed big time! I think the epic nature of the song with the combination of synths and a somewhat more traditional orchestral setting is a genius move in the chorus. You can really feel the tension in the chorus. Autotune can sometimes hurt a song, but I really like how it is applied in the bridge, leading to an emphatic final chorus. All in all, the chorus and the melodies give me winner vibes so I'm shocked this is placed so low. This also reminds me of Supergirl by Stefania, but done 10x better! Thank you for introducing me to this song!
This has grown in me a lot. This is a neatly arranged song and the beginning of the song is an attention-grabber. The chorus is the highlight of the song with a catchy instrumentation. I think this might not be very instant for some but that chorus warms me up quite considerably.
ROBBED!! This is probably not the best Froukje song I admit but this oozes style and the synths add a lot of depth to the song. The piano introduction is ingenius and sets the tone of the song well. The chorus may not be very remarkable and memorable, and that might be the reason why it is ranked so low. However, the overall production is superbly done.
Polina sounds quite good in a typical Russian pop song. The chorus is a standout for me with the melody starting out high and strong, resolving into synths. This makes the song memorable. Other parts of the song are quite neatly done and I think this is probably one of the best songs from Polina Gagarina for a while.
This song kinda goes up and down for me. I think the lack of a final chorus might play a part but it still works without one. The main highlight of this song is the instrumental drop. I like the chord progression and the instrumentation here, which makes the song atmospheric and memorable. The beginning of the song is an attention-grabber, as the progression of the synths introduces us to the sophisticated soundscape. All in all, great entry and I don't think it deserves to be at 24th place in the final after finishing 1st in the semi, as this doesn't sound like it will fall out of favour quickly.
I quite like this song. In full, it might be a bit unvarying but the buildup and then the drop stands out a lot for me. I can still remember the saxophone melody in the drop -- it is that remarkable. This deserves to be at 6th place, if not higher!
This is probably has the least interesting instrumentation out of the songs I've voted but it doesn't mean it is bad at all! In fact, the melody is probably one of the strongest here. I love the chorus melody and it varies a lot. The instrumentation pales a bit in comparison but sets the tone well and gives a nice retro feeling. Great production overall!
Congratulations on your first qualification as a debutant! This is a decent pop song and Jasmine Sokko songs are very modern and synth-heavy. The bass is very strong and the style is top-notch. In full it is a bit too unvarying for me, yet the overall production is what makes this song remarkable!
Thought one second this was a Monstercat release (confused with Waiting by KUURO ft. Bianca) but this has an amazing drop which features the local instrument well. Great production throughout!
Also thank you everyone for voting for
Hong Kong (thanks my fellow Hongkonger for 6 points
). I honestly think this could end up near last in the semi when it didn't qualify, as I have a feeling the sound and atmosphere might not be very accessible for everyone. This song is probably one of the best releases in Hong Kong this year and I'm baffled it hasn't appeared on any local charts yet. It is also really rare to hear a Hong Kong pop song playing around with synths, so in a lot of ways I think this is an unearthed gem that the locals have truly missed.
