Let me briefly talk about the semifinals results.SF1:
I'm shocked this flopped after placing 2nd in its semi.
Oof. Just two points away.
SF2:
The fact that these five qualifiers made up half of the Top 10. Slayage.
The fact that Croatia and Spain were tied for 9th, but Croatia won the tiebreak, making it qualify. Poor Spain.
SF3:
I'm sorry that the replacement vote for Portugal basically ended your qualification hopes.
On to my thoughts on the final results! Thought it would do better since it's one of the more energetic entries.
At the same time, I'm not upset it's last.
This pair of countries tying and finishing next to each other in the bottom 3 is kinda wholesome.
Both songs were not competitive, so I understand the flopping.
I honestly would have been okay with this NQing. It's only okay, but hey, at least you were a finalist.
I was so shocked this qualified. Thank the replacement voter for Portugal on making that happen.
It's standard Turkish pop. Not groundbreaking.
A little underrated imo. It has a cool drop and nice vibe.
Not much of a standout, but I like that it's edgy. I like that it's giving queer representation. Happy Pride Month.
Decent host entry, but we know Ukraine is capable of better.
I like the drop. That's it. Otherwise, it's an average club song.
Definitely much much better than Pongo's song last edition. Definitely a boppy final-worthy song, but not a contender.
I really enjoyed this. This was almost in my personal Top 10.
It's good, but we've heard better songs from them in the past, so this is a good spot to finish on.
My
. Compared to its result in the semis, this is a bit of letdown. It's nice, albeit a little noisy, but it stood out enough to be in my Top 10.
What a surprise. From barely qualifying to placing 17th out of 30. It's a good result considering the journey. For me, it's too chill to be a competitive song.
I definitely felt something from this song, but it's drowned out by it being an otherwise typical rock power ballad. The middle placement is just right.
Definitely a banger. I think it deserves being in the top half.
Very cool and unique. I also think it deserves to place in the top half.
I love the recent slayage of these Dutch-language bangers. This is no exception. Well done.
Out of all the Latin American entries this edition, this was the weakest one imo, but it doesn't take away from that awesome beat.
My
. So close to the top 10! You could've made it, but this final was really strong and competitive, so unfortunately had to be left out of it. Still a banger.
(Also, I'm shocked that Anton, our resident Central Asian music stan, didn't give this 12 points. Like you even made a RV for this. ) My
! I'm sooo pleased this made it into the Top 10. I thought this banger would be underrated. They should've served something of this quality in Supernova.
Maybe you wouldn't have been in the Top 10 if it weren't for those replacement voters. Either way, this fun and cute song deserves its great result. Well done.
This is my
. As much as I am a lover of this song, I'm disappointed it didn't even reach the Top 5. I thought it deserved to place higher than 8th. It's so sensual and good! Well done regardless.
My
. Congratulations on getting Nigeria its best result since the 28th edition (also with Kah-Lo).
Definitely a certified banger.
Oof. I was torn between this and China for my 12 points, but I ultimately settled to give Greece
. That drop is just incredible. In fact, the whole track is, but that dark ominous beat is just the biggest earworm of the edition for me. In the end, I'm still really excited that you did this well. It's also awesome to see that Julian was able to occupy two of the placements in the Top 10.
My
! You did it, Laurinda! You got Slovenia back in the Top 10 from the first time since the 37th edition.
July Jones is definitely a reliable artist to do well for Slovenia. And since the song is great, I agree with the result. Congratulations on finishing in the Top 5.
My
! This song was actually in 3rd place until all the replacement votes came on, so it was that close. In the end, looks like we won't have to stress over who China will be taken over by if it had AQ'd.
I adore this song, and I'm happy it did so well. Jan really knew his stuff. I hope he's okay, but I think China will most likely become free next edition unless he becomes active again before August.
It's been over two years since the USA reached the Top 3. Also, USA currently has a Top 10 streak, so that's awesome. Could it be a turn of events for the USA in the future? I enjoy the song, and I'm very happy that it did this well. Enjoy the AQ privilege next edition.
My
! Not only did Qatar qualify to the final for the first time ever, but it finished in the final amazingly. Second place is an amazing result, especially for a country that isn't part of online contests often. Dana really carries her country's music industry on her back, and I'm really enjoying her evolution as an artist since I first heard "Paint" years ago. It's always a pleasure to see surprises from less influential countries. Congratulations!
Congratulations, William! (I've lost track on how many times you've won in NNMC lol.) Despite your chronic procrastination habits, I can never reject your musical taste. I did give you
, so this was a standout in the final. You helped get B&H not only its first Top 10 finish but even a win! The song is definitely great, and I'm always excited when a country wins for the first time, so thank you for that. Maybe we'll go to Bosnia this August, but you'll have to let me know.
