Oh that's not...
Tunis, Tunisia - 21st January 2024 ERTT confirmed, despite an increase in public opposition, that Tunisia would continue participate in the upcoming edition of Own Africavision Song Contest. We have also selected our act.
Emel Mathlouthi (who performs as EMEL) is a Tunisian singer who has become known as the face of resistance in Tunisia, as her first song was released during the Arab spring of 2011 and her music was subsequently banned on Tunisian radio stations during that time. This hasn't hindered her from advancing in her career, and she now works between Tunisia, Paris & New York.
Emel is a notable supporter of Palestinian rights and their fight for freedom, and indeed she has dedicated many songs towards their cause, including her entry this edition. She has noted that the song is dedicated to the Palestinian people whose bravery inspires her everyday. The Tunisian delegation is immensely proud to send EMEL to the contest. She will sing her song Souty (My Voice) on stage.
Timeslot: 2:22+ (can be changed/reviewed, I will inform closer to the deadline)
You can also stream our song on Spotify below:
My voice has no limits My voice knows no end My voice is my existence My voice roars like the oceans My voice blows like the wind

Tanzania's Brings Singeli to the OAfSC Stage!
Tanzania can confirm they will be represented by the Singeli producer:
Bamba PanaThe Dar Es Salaam based producer will represent his country in the upcoming edition of Own Africavision Song Contest held in Zambia. Drawing the attention to the likes of the Icelandic singer Björk (who has used his music in DJ sets), he is one of the central producers in the Singeli scene based in Mburahati area in Dar Es Salaam and is also a pioneer in computerising the genre for a more contemporary audience. Described by the internet music rating platform, Rate Your Music (RYM), Singeli is a genre that was 'developed in Tanzania in the mid-2000s [and] fuses incredibly rapid beats, usually between 180-300BPM, with MCing and musical influences from older Tanzanian genres.'. On the OAfSC stage, he'll be accompanied by the Ugandan-born Kenyan-based rapper MC Yallah and selected members from the Japanese taiko drumming troupe, Kodo. Hope you enjoy the entry, the Tanzanian delegation wishes the acts the best of luck for the contest in Zambia. Tanzania in the Own Africavision Song Contest #16
"Olympiaaku" By Bamba Pana, MC Yallah & KodoMusic by Jumanne Ramadhani Zegge Lyrics By Jumanne Ramadhani Zegge, Yallah Gaudencia Mbidde, Yuta Sumiyoshi (A replacement video will be provided to the council by to the deadline)
