Japan reveals their entry! Fukuoka, 29 March 2024 Today, Japanese broadcaster NHK has revealed their representative for the 33rd edition of OASC and the first entry under the new delegation led by Kunihiko Iwasaki.
LMYK will represent Japan in the Philippines!
LMYK (エルエムワイク一) is a German-Japanese singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Osaka in a multicultural household to a Japanese mother and a German father, she started writing music and performing when she was attending college in New York City, getting the attention of music producers Jerry Jam and Terry Lewis, who offered her produce her music. Seamlessly weaving Japanese and English lyrics, she has a unique way of orchestrating her gentle voice to make each sound practically blossom.
LMYK emerged in the music industry in late 2020, when she released the song "Unity", which was the theme song for the Japanese dubbed version of the animated movie "The Legend of Hei". In the following year, she gained notoriety for her hit song "0 (Zero)", the ending theme of the anime "The Study Case of Vanitas". And in March 2023, she released her first studio album "DESSERTS", which also includes the song that will represent Japan this edition, which you'll find out below.
There is no freedom without love... 愛がなければ木当の自由などはないと...
Yes, you heard me right. LMYK will perform the song "Without Love" in the Philippines at the 33rd edition of the Own Asiavision Song Contest. This song, as previously mentioned, is part of her first album "DESSERTS", being the fourth track, but it is also the first ending theme of the second season of the Japanese TV anime series "Vinland Saga". This song talks about about having strength and keep moving forward during our darkest hours inspired by Thorfinn's story in the anime. According to LMYK herself: "I was deeply touched by the story depicting the suffering and loneliness that parallels with life, and the changes in awareness and emotions. I wrote and sang the song about the strength of human to take one step at a time even in the darkness of hopelessness. I would be happy if you could enjoy it with the world that Thorfinn sees and feels."

After the Indonesian delegation's subpar result last edition, great national shame was brought upon TVRI. This in turn incentivized the broadcaster to go big or go home. And we plan on going big.
Weird Genius ft. Pepita Weird Genius are an Indonesian DJ group currently comprising three members. The trio is widely popular in Indonesia, thanks to the mixing of traditional sounds with modern influences. Weird Genius are also notable in the contest sphere, for their global hit "Lathi" back in 2020. With them on this track is Pepita Salim, an up-and-coming artist in the country who is providing some... very interesting vocal inflections!
This edition's track is mixing popera with techno influences, something which we believe has never (or rarely) seen the light of the OASC stage! This track is unlike anything Indonesia has ever sent before! Is it risky? Yes. Can it pay off? We'll see!
Timeslot: 1:38+ OR 2:32+ (i will give a decision soon)M/L: Reza Oktovian
