Iceland confirms participation! Reykjavik, 5th July 2024
RÚV, the Icelandic broadcaster, has just confirmed that Iceland will be participating in the 44th edition of North Vision Song Contest which will likely be held in Andorra.
SVALA managed to return Iceland to the grand final in Montenegro with her song Ein í Nótt. Despite feeling a bit underwhelmed by the result, the head of delegation applauded SVALA's 20th place finish and noted that taking part and showcasing the Icelandic music scene is more important than anything else.
As the 43rd edition came to a close, the delegation bid farewell to david, who served as co-head of delegation for Iceland in the 43rd edition and organized the national selection IJBOL which turned out to be a success. We wish him the best of luck going forward with his new country, Bulgaria, which is coincidentally the country that the current head of delegation managed before becoming the Icelandic HoD in the 23rd edition. However, there is some good news. Wys will join the Icelandic team going forward! We look forward to working with them after they were co-HoD of North Macedonia for a few editions in the past. We thank everyone who was interested and applied, and if there is a spot for a 2nd co-HoD soon, we'll definitely let you know (if you're still looking!).
Unfortunately, the HoD announced that IJBOL would not be held this edition due to internal issues and a lack of resources for this edition. It is expected to make a return in the near future. Thus, the Icelandic entry will be chosen internally.
Submissions are now open. The Icelandic entrant is expected to be revealed later in July. Stay tuned for more news!© RÚV 2024

Lebanon confirms participation!
LBCI has announced that Lebanon will participate in the forty-fourth North Vision Song Contest, due to be held in Andorra, in what will be the country's thirty-seventh participation in the competition. It will be hoping to continue its current two-edition qualification streak, after Sydney-born GAZAL earned the country a respectable nineteenth place in Budva with "Breathe".
« We were delighted with GAZAL's performance in Montenegro, defying the odds for a second edition in a row and bringing Lebanon to another final. Lebanon has never qualified from the semi-finals on three consecutive occasions before, so here's hoping we can make history for the country as NVSC heads back to Andorra. » Though it was rumoured that the national selection format NAHDA would return for this edition, funding cuts to LBCI's entertainment programming and a general nonchalance from executives higher up in the broadcaster mean that a public selection for the country's entry is not currently feasible. As such, the selected artist will join Venus Bleeds, Anou, Aziza and GAZAL as the latest of Lebanon's internally selected entries.
It has been widely speculated that the Lebanese artist and song have already been chosen. With the upcoming edition seeing Lebanon's current delegation select its tenth entry for the contest, and with a qualification streak to try and uphold, no doubt the team will be hoping that its choice will aptly mark the occasion.
Lebanon's NVSC journey made the best possible start as Nicole Saba won for the country on their debut in the fifth edition with 'Hafdal Ahlam', bringing the contest to Beirut for the sixth edition and starting a (to this day unmatched) three-edition qualification streak. The country's results from then on were rather turbulent, including two four-edition streaks of non-qualifications, although Myriam Fares achieved Lebanon's second best result with 'Nifsi Aoulhalak' in the fourteenth edition - second place.
A new delegation stepped in for the twenty-fourth edition, bringing Lebanon back to the final with Nelly Makdessy's 'Kunt Atmanna' in Vienna, and achieving three top ten results for the country (with 'Call Me a Stranger', '22' and 'Dear Jealousy') before passing the baton on to the current delegation team for the thirty-fourth edition onwards, returning to the final - and to the top ten - with Azure Ryder's 'Stronger'. The country has seen mixed results since, with Tina Yamout's 'Matloub' and GAZAL's 'Breathe' both reaching the final in the contest's most recent editions. Brought to you by the Lebanese delegation on 6th July 2024

following the poor result in the previous edition, Monaco has decided to withdraw in order to have more time to reassess the selection procedure. A return for edition 45 is at the moment very likely
