"Animal" managed to break a few records this edition getting points from 38/49 participating countries (the most ever) and also getting more points than any other Norwegian entry (490 points). It even got 10 points from Tunisia (the first points from the North-African country in the history of the contest).

NVSC #28 marks the first edition since NVSC #22, in which a Semi-Final Qualifier ended up last in the final.
12 last places in the final have been Semi-Final Qualifiers, while 16 last places have been AQ countries. Out of these 16 AQ countries, 4 of them have been host countries.
Since NVSC #15, only two last places were Semi-Final Qualifiers, in #22 and #28, respectively.

Luxembourg holds for sure the record of the most multinational representatives. The country has been represented by Luxembourgian, Dutch, Belgian, Turkish, Canadian, French, Danish, Italian and Australian artists so far.

On 7th February 2019 the HoD of San Marino sent to the Council a playlist with 3 songs by the same artist, it would been the small selection for San Marino in NVSC #28. The Council responds positively with the majority of votes, but Sunday 10th February 2019 the small country must change its plans, this selection cannot continue, because the singer in question was Mahmood, he won the Sanremo Festival with the song "Soldi", he would represented Italy in Tel Aviv. No one in Italy expected this result, not even I who shouted with joy at his victory for more hours and in all possible language, who had proposed this young boy with Soldi and 2 other songs. Mahmood had already taken part in the San Marino selections for NVSC with the songs "Uramaki" and "Pesos", but it would not have been more realistic after the victory of the 2019 Festival, both he as singer and his songs. I was panicked but also very happy for Mahmood, I didn't know what to invent, selection with other songs or internal choice? I take some time to think about my country and in mid-March I send the song Toukassè! With this song I reach the podium, second place as Mahmood in Tel Aviv. Facts or destiny?

If I'm not mistaken, 17 winners (61%) had been selected through a national selection, while 11 winners (39%) had been internally selected.

Janice is the first black winner of the contest (I have double checked all of the winners, just in case). I just thought I'd put that out there if you are interested in contest diversity.
