The attorney of
TRM, Jeffry Blight has now stated his pledge:
As to the stance, whether
"Be My Lover" is a cover,
I've listened as well and I can only agree with the HoD of Moldova and broadcaster TRM,
that this song is not a cover, yet indeed the chorus seems alike to the accused original.
Also the
San Marinese broadcaster has already agreed with TRM.
Coming to terms, it is not in conflict with the regulations of the contest,
nor is it factually known or proved, that this song is a cover.
If it were in fact to be a cover, the writers, producers, or singers would have to be credited,
as they're entitled to a piece of the earnings of the song, if that is mentioned in the negotiated contract,
when it would be a cover.
There are no visual facts available, like a contract,
that "Be My Lover" is a cover song.
That stated, we could start comparing with another case.
We look at the example of "Baby, it's OK" by Alexandra Stan.
This song is a cover, as the chords and lyrics are the same as the original "Give it up".
The producers and singers of the original have also been credited by contract.
Therefore I pledge that the verdict of this case will be ruled "Not in conflict with the rules of North Vision Song Contest",
as set by the NBU, and "Be My Lover" still has the right to compete in the 6th edition in
Lebanon,
of North Vision Song Contest.
If the original verdict will stand, we will be looking for higher appeal within the law system,
and we will be looking into sueing the current members and total NBU Council, NBU and North Vision Song Contest
accusing them of having the intention to not allow songs, out of unproven grounds,
leading to framing some countries out of good results, thus framing the contest.
