Last edition I came up with a brand new method of ranking the NVSC countries. In short, each country is ranked by their recent performance in the contest.
The making of the ranking is quite complicated. I will try my best to explain it simply...
Method:
1. Take a country's average number of points gained throughout the 9th edition and multiply the value by 0.25
2. Repeat for a country's score in the 10th edition but multiply by 0.5 instead
3. Repeat for a country's score in the 11th edition but multiply by 0.75 instead
4. Repeat for a country's score in the 12th edition but keep the value the same
5. Add up all the values found in the first 4 steps
6. Round the value to the nearest integer (whole number)
The change from last edition's ranking is that the results from #8 are no longer included while the results from #12 are added.
Hence, the results for #9, #10 and #11 all also move down the significance ladder.
The List:
Explanations & Examples:
Hopefully you can realise how this ranking differs from the others. Like I said before, this list shows a country's recent performance in the contest.
Ukraine retains its dominance of this ranking, having received high amounts of points in all of the last 4 editions
Russia is in second place due to its also consistant high rankings, while other countries like Denmark have received poor results in at least 1 of the last 4 editions, decreasing their ranking
Germany is 7th due to their high-scoring results in the 9th, 11th and 12th editions.
Monaco is perhaps the most out-of-place country in this ranking. Its successful results in the 11th and 12th editions boosts it here.
Israel has shot up the list, due to its win in the 12th edition and the fact that its 0 points in the 8th edition are no longer included.
Azerbaijan moves up the list considerably far despite a mediocre result in #12 (soz jessica) because its last place in the PQR in #8 is no longer included in the ranking.
Romania is again lower in this ranking than in other rankings due to its relatively poor results in the past 4 editions.
Georgia is 33rd due to still receiving relatively high points in its semi-finals, despite not qualifying.
The bottom 8 countries in this ranking have all missed an edition or two in the recent past, resulting in their very low rankings.
