Chanson Pour L'Instant #06 (French NS for NNMC #13)

Welcome to the sixth edition of Chanson Pour L'Instant!!!


A minute of silence for France, as we have failed to qualify twice in a row. We even had to suffer the humiliation of Turkmenistan making it to the final without us.

And there's really no guarantee that it won't happen three times in a row, but the least we can do is try.

So...in preparation for this edition, our delegation listened to over 50 entries. (We don't have an exact number since we didn't count rap entries - French rap is awful!) These are the five entries that we believed had the best chance of making it far. It's unlikely that we'll get another third place, but we didn't even expect to make it that far with Lordly.

Anyway, here are the songs, and here's hoping that there's a finalist hidden among them (I really love the uncertainty that comes with this contest )

Song #01 - Can't Control It - Nadav Guedj
You may know him from when he represented back in Eurovision 2015. Well, as some of you probably already knew (I only found out a few days ago), he was born in Paris and his family 'emigrated to Israel a long time ago' (I'm only quoting the source Wikipedia gave me)


Song #02 - Des Fleurs et Des Flammes - TAL
Yes, another French-Israeli act. And it won't be the last . TAL last represented France back in edition #09, where she got an 18th place finish with 69 points (and despite what a certain floppy delegation may say, 69 will always be funny). While we weren't proud of it at the time, we would give anything to go back to that. Here is her second effort for this contest.


Song #3 - Au Coeur de Moi - Amir
And here we have triple whammy of 'another's, not only do we have another past Eurovision contestant, and another past NNMC contestant, but this is the third Israeli act so far in our national selection. Hooray for originality!!


Song #4 - Your Mind - * Hedia feat. Kristen Marie
Finally breaking the chain of Israeli contestants, we have Your Mind by the DJ Hedia with vocals from The Voice USA contestant, Kristen Marie, though judging by her surname she could possibly be of French descent (the girl singing isn't actually in the video).

*I don't know for certain if he's Algerian, but his name (which is his actual surname) is Arabic, and considering how many French-Algerian singers there are as it is, it's an educated guess


Song #5 - IDIDUDID - ALB
And finally, we have an indie entry from ALB. Not only do they prevent the National Front from accusing us of 'treason' and 'white genocide' (it's not our fault most of the white acts from this month were old bags who were popular in the 80s), but they also happen the jury's favourite. Will it translate to the general public? We shall see...

I knew he was French, I just didn't know what his descent was
