RULES OF THE EUROPA FESTIVALlast update: 17/05/20Firstly, before starting, here is a list of the host of the contest, which is very long: Luiri @luiri
|
♫ HOW TO JOIN THE CONTEST ♫In order to join the contest, you firstly need a forum account (duh), then claim a country whenever confirmations are up and running!♫ HOW THE CONTEST WORKS ♫There is a total of 63 available countries in the contest. All of these countries can participate, however, depending of the number of participants, an edition will be organized differently:IF THERE IS 49 OR LESS COUNTRIES
An EoF edition will be composed of 2 Semi-Finals of 22 or less countries 1 Grand Final of 27 Countries.
| IF THERE IS 50 OR MORE COUNTRIES
An EoF edition will be composed of 1 PQR Round* of 10 Countries maximum. 2 Semi-Finals of 22 or less countries 1 Grand Final of 27 Countries. |
*The PQR participants are composed of the bottom 5 of the two semi-finals of the previous edition.♫ AND THE COUNTRIES THAT CAN PARTICIPATE ? ♫As said above, there is a total of 63 Available Countries, all of them being from Europe, with part of Asia & Africa. But as Europe, by itself, is a very diverse continent, culturally but also musically different. We have big countries like France or Sweden, and smaller countries like Iceland or Armenia.Yet there is even smaller, the so-usually called Borrowing States. These countries have either no music industry by their own, or a very small one. They are at the amount of 9 Countries, here they are:Can borrow every editions.BORROWERS | BORROWING FROM | ALAND ISLANDS | SWEDEN | ANDORRA | SPAIN | GIBRALTAR | ENGLAND | LIECHTENSTEIN | SWITZERLAND | MONACO | FRANCE | SAN MARINO | ITALY |
Can borrow every three editions.BORROWERS | BORROWING FROM | GREENLAND | DENMARK | MONTENEGRO | SERBIA | CYPRUS | GREECE |
When a country becomes free, it will, depending of the situation, be put up for a draw or put on the list of the Free Countries. To see the specific situation for each country, please check the Countries Draw thread)
For the "borrow every three editions", this basically reflect their music industry♫ AND MY ENTRY, DOES IT HAVE RULES TO RESPECT ? ♫• The song must either be original, or an official cover.• The artists have to be +16 at the day the confirmation have opened, and has to still be alive.• Please be realistic, we won’t accept a song made by a singer when (s)he was a child.• Your artist(s) can either be from the country you’ve chosen, or have strong roots (their parents is the highest permitted level). For duets or groups, each members count for one, and for being able to represent that country, they must have at least 75% of the duet/group being from your country.Language-wise, there’s no imposed rule, however, a song in Greek for Georgia may most likely get rejected, for example.♫ AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I RESPECT THE RULES ? ♫Both confirming your participation and posting the entry is mandatory in the confirmation thread of the edition. With that, you must provide a 30-seconds timeslot and the name of your entry in the Latin Alphabet in case it’s in either Cyrillic, Armenian, Georgian or Greek alphabet. Please take note that after posting your entry, you won’t be allowed to change it.
If you do have any questions, feel free to ask them on the General Discussions thread.

RULES OF THE VINTAGE EUROPA FESTIVALlast update: 29/09/19The Retro-ish version of the Europa Festival (just like its Junior Version btw) applies the same rules as in EoF, with some exceptions that I will list below: ♫ HOSTING ♫Unlike the Europa Festival, the hosting will not be directly given to the previous winner, but instead, a bidding phase will be open and everybody, including the winning country, will be available to send an application to host an edition of the competition.
That bidding phase would last for 3 days, and here's a list of all the informations that you'll be asked to give:
- Host City - An Arena (from 2,5k to 10k seats allowed) - Hosts (either 1 or 2 persons allowed) - A theme art (logo* and background** ONLY) * in a transparent background / ** either animated or not After the 3 days passed, a poll will be opened and the participants will be available to choose which country will be the host of the upcoming edition. Just to inform, the host player must be available as this is the host which will be revealing the results of the contest into the thread. All I am going to do is the recap.♫ PARTICIPATION ♫You are keeping the country you have taken from EoF. No different country.A total of 18 to 24 Participants will be allowed to take part into the contest. Vintage EoF will be therefore, limited to one big Grand Final.
The confirmations will be opened right after the host application phase will be closed (aka, around a week after). Out of these, only the previous winner and the host country (if they are the same or not) will have a reserved spot, all the others would have to confirm. ♫ ENTRY RULES ♫• The song must either be original, or an official cover.• The song must have been released before the 1st January 2000,• The singer can be either alive or dead, considering it's just a fictionnal contest, it is fine.• Your artist(s) can either be from the country you’ve chosen, or have roots from that country.Language-wise, there’s no imposed rule, however,a song in Greek for Georgia may most likely get rejected, for example.♫ RESPECTING THE RULES ♫And when you've found your entry, you'll need to post it on the confirmation thread, please don't forget, that you'll need to post: • A video of your entry • The wished timeslot for the recap • The year of release of the song
If you do have any questions, feel free to ask them on the General Discussions thread.

REVAMPED WARNING SYSTEM (AS OF MAY 2020)last update: 17/05/2020As the contest just restarted (okay an edition was held since then, but who caaaares), with the council, we thought of updating/revamping the warning system which was a bit outdated.
Here's the new warning system: Please note that this is not possible to get warnings removed.
Again, because of the restarting, it was decided that unless an user got permabanned, all of the previous warning received will be cleaned up. Everyone restart at 0%.The Europa Festival Council.
