"Just like her moniker suggests it, Requin Chagrin (Grief Shark in English) depicts contrasted indie pop soundscapes, combining the strength of a ferocious predator with a seaside melancholia. Behind the oxymoron, one can find the mastermind, singer-songwriter, producer and musician Marion Brunetto.
Requin Chagrin is the new project of Marion Brunetto, also a drummer for the Guillotines and Alphatra.
Author, composer, performer, follower of "Do It Yourself", she revives French pop in 60's surf music style and blackened in lo-fi sauce.
When his sunny guitars come to clear up his melancholy secrets, Requin Chagrin then revives our old memories of summer evenings or this sweet nostalgia for the holidays that are ending. A tender, refreshing pop road trip, facing the setting sun."

"We’d be willing to bet that you’ve never heard of French four piece, Requin Chagrin. The name, translated to Grief Shark shouldn’t deter you from what this band does. Their sound is essentially garage pop, though it’s very intriguing and makes anyone who hears them excited for what their full length will sound like overall. Their first two singles definitely have our interests peaked..."
..With “Mauvais presage” the band keeps things light, though the song’s title translates to “bad omen.” The video has a dark theme though the song feels light and airy. When music is in a language you aren’t one hundred percent familiar with, we find it’s best to focus on the songwriting. The way the guitar cuts through the opening is purely magical, while the snappy drums and vocals sound like a score from a film, very cinematic and full of depth...
..With the band’s second single, “Semaphore” they stay in the lane of garage pop while focusing on a more catchy and blended style. The softer vocals aren’t as emphatic, but they still hit your soul with their precision. When the chorus hits, the song opens up and has plenty of slow built energy that releases like a caged bird, displaying a different side to the music that the band offers up."
