RULES CHANGES (1 and 2 are the same as in the AVSC announcement so you can skip them if you have already read the AVSC announcement.)
1. ENTRIES ELIGIBILITY
Songs that have at least one of these will not be eligible anymore.
- Song that finished in the top 6 of North Vision Song Contest. - Song that finished in the top 10 of North Vision Song Contest within the past year. - Song that finished in the top 3 of Fantasia Contest, NowNewMusic Contest, and Own Eurovision Song Contest (+ its spin-offs). - Song that finished in the top 5 of Fantasia Contest, NowNewMusic Contest, and Own Eurovision Song Contest (+ its spin-offs) within the past year.
2. SEMI-FINAL(S)
In the latest edition of AVSC and BMF there are 26 and 25 participating countries respectively which leads to a question "What will happen if there are more than 26 countries? Will semi-final finally take place?" So here are how things will work:
- Less than 27 countries: 1 grand final. - 27-30 countries: 1 semi-final and 1 grand final with 20 countries (10 AQs). - 31-35 countries: 1 semi-final and 1 grand final with 24 countries (10 AQs). - At least 36 countries: 2 semi-finals and 1 grand final with 26 countries (6 AQs).
Yeah ik we are not getting there soon but who knows
3. CHANGING COUNTRY
As the main purpose of the contest is to pick a mash-up and submit songs from both sides of your mash-up. So before you change your country, you must:
- Send songs from both sides of your mash-up. (Acts with a connection(s) to both sides are not counted) - Participate with your current country for at least 2 editions.
These rules will be used starting from the next edition. If you have any questions you can ask me on forum pm, discord or discussion thread.
Also, I might open a council for the contest. If anyone can help me in making results or design feel free to tell me in PM (preferably someone with a discord account). :somepoints: taglish used to be here

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CONTEST After hosting BMF for 12 editions so far, I'm pleased to announce that the contest has finally formed a council group. With that being said, please welcome jstårsz and uhsting to the team!
jstårsz has been helping the contest by making the recaps for the 11th edition and supporting banners for the 12th edition. Their main role is organizing support banners. uhsting's main role is vetting the entry and updating the wiki.

FORMAT CHANGE After some consideration, the contest's format has been changed. Starting from the next edition (16th), the contest will consist of two semi-finals and one grand final. Each semi-final will have 9 qualifiers instead of 10. The top 6 of the previous edition will automatically qualify bringing the number of finalists to 24 countries.
Q: Why has the format been changed? A: As of now, the number of participants is likely to fluctuate between having enough country (34-35 with wildcard/36+) for the old two semi-finals system and only enough for one semi-final (31-33). Thus, a more stabilized and consistent system has to be established.
Q: Why start from the next edition and not this edition? A: Because of stability. Changing the format from having two semi-finals to one and back to two again with one less qualifier in just three editions seems too rushed. That's why the new format will be implemented in the 16th edition instead.
Q: Why two semi-finals instead of one? A: Breaking the semi-final into two will make the points distributed better, making the results more accurate.
Q: Why nine qualifiers instead of ten? A: For a better qualifiers/non-qualifiers proportion. If a semi-final has 13 countries, having 9 qualifiers is still not too imbalanced.
Q: Will the qualifiers number go back to ten? A: The qualifiers number will be reconsidered once we hit 40 countries and/or have a stable number of participants.

RULES CHANGES After some revisions, some rules have been changed.
1. ESC National Selection Entries
NS entries have always been a hot topic within the forum. They will still be eligible in the following editions of BMF. However, some adjustment has been made to prevent participators from abusing the rule.
- Songs that placed in the top 5 will not be allowed to compete. - For any national selection with less than 10 entries, the songs that finished on the top half of the results will not be allowed. - NS entries are allowed to be sent with a 5-edition gap. For example, if a country sends an NS entry in the 10th, they cannot send another one until the 16th edition. This rule was made to encourage originality, NOT to encourage people to send them every 6 editions.
These rules are subject to change in the future if they are abused. 2. Timeslots/Replacement Videos
Starting from the next edition, failing to submit the timeslot before the deadline will result in 5% warnings. For replacement videos, not submitting one will not result in any warning. In case you cannot make an RV yourself, you can provide a video you'd like to use as the visual. With or without a specific timeslot is fine.
UPDATE FOR THE NEXT EDITION The 17th edition's confirmation will start around mid-November or after. The final might begin after New Year.
