As a new head of delegation for Guadeloupe appeared towards the start of this year, the Caribbean territory expresses interest in hosting Own Song of the Year 2021!
Basse-Terre is the planned host city for the event, specifically the commune of Baie-Mahault. The city is home to the venue in Guadeloupe with the highest seating capacity, the Velodrome Amédée-Détraux.
Meet your hosts!I can’t get images to work so here’s an imgur link Elodie is an Italian singer and model. She represented Guadeloupe three times in the contest, qualifying for the final twice.
Stony is a zouk and dancehall singer. She has represented Guadeloupe once before, in a collaboration with Shenseea, and is rumoured to return in 2022.
More about the venue. The Velodrome Amédée-Détraux is a sports complex (containing a velodrome and stadium) located in Baie-Mahault in Guadeloupe. With a total capacity of 9,000 seats, it is the largest stadium in Guadeloupe. It is also the largest velodrome in the West Indies. If the bid is successful, the venue will be converted to make it suitable to host the event.Design preview Click here!
This is just a random song I picked btw. The flowers and plants of the design represent the different nature and tropical settings that Guadeloupe is home to. Should Guadeloupe be selected to host the event, more animation will be used. It hasn’t been shown, since with a 5 second preview what is the point.
Welcome to Guadeloupe!
The team responsible for Guadeloupian participation at Own Americavision Song Contest are very interested in hosting this event. We hope that our bid will be considered, and the event can travel to our lovely islands!

Michigan Applies With the announcement of the Own Song Of The Year 2021 Contest, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters announced that they will be sumbitting another bid, marking the first nation to submit multiple bids to the Own Song of the Year.
Mackinac Island (/ˈmækɪnɔː/ MAK-in-aw; French: Île Mackinac) is an island and resort area, covering 4.35 square miles (11.3 km2) in land area in the U.S. state of Michigan. The name of the island in Odawa is Michilimackinac and "Mitchimakinak" in Ojibwe meaning "Big Turtle". It is located in Lake Huron, at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac, between the state's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. The island was long home to an Odawa settlement and previous indigenous cultures before European colonization began in the 17th century. It was a strategic center of the fur trade around the Great Lakes. Based on a former trading post, Fort Mackinac was constructed on the island by the British during the American Revolutionary War. It was the site of two battles during the War of 1812 before the northern border was settled and the US gained this island in its territory. In the late 19th century, Mackinac Island became a popular tourist attraction and summer colony. Many of the structures on the island have undergone extensive historical preservation and restoration. Because of its historic significance, the entire island is listed as a National Historic Landmark. It is well known for numerous cultural events; a wide variety of architectural styles, including the Victorian Grand Hotel; and its ban on almost all motor vehicles. According to the 2010 United States Census, the island has a year-round population of 492, which makes it by far the least populated location to bid for any jubilee edition of any Own Contest. The population grows considerably during the summer from tourists and seasonal workers. Hotels, restaurants, bars and retail shops, open only during the summer season, hire hundreds of short-term employees to accommodate as many as 15,000 visitors per day. The island can be reached by private boat, by ferry, by small aircraft and, in the winter, by snowmobile over an ice bridge. Motorized vehicles have been prohibited on the island since 1898, with the exception of snowmobiles during winter, emergency vehicles, and service vehicles. Travel on the island is either by foot, bicycle, or horse-drawn carriage. Roller skates and roller blades are also allowed, except in the downtown area. Bicycles, roller skates/roller blades, carriages, and saddle horses are available for rent. An 8-mile (13 km) road follows the island's perimeter, and numerous roads, trails and paths cover the interior. M-185, the United States' only state highway without motorized vehicles, makes a circular loop around the island, closely hugging the shoreline
The Grand Hotel is a historic hotel and coastal resort on Mackinac Island, Michigan, a small island located at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac within Lake Huron between the state's Upper and Lower peninsulas. Constructed in the late 19th century, the facility advertises itself as having the world's largest porch. The Grand Hotel is well known for a number of notable visitors, including five U.S. presidents, inventor Thomas Edison, and author Mark Twain. The Grand Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Situated on over 9.9 acres of land, featuring a porch that is over 660 feet (201 meters), the Grand Hotel plays host to a number of legendary events on the island, one of which hopes to be the Own Song of the Year 2021. And what is a bid without iconic hosts?
Three iconic hosts will be here to welcome you all to Mackinac Island. Rachel Rhodes, better known by her Japanese name Yasuda Rei is a Japanese-American singer and model who was born in North Carolina to a Michigander father and a Japanese mother, making her one of the most prominent hāfu in Japanese pop culture. To date, Yasuda has released 3 albums, 1 ep, and 15 singles. One of those singles, Through the Dark, represented the Great Lakes state at Own USAVision Song Contest 2, where she not only won her semi over eventual winner Cat Pierce, but also netted the best Michigander result to date, placing 7th in the final, a measly 2 points behind 6th place. Yasuda will also be joined by Babatunde Olaniran, better known by their stage name of Tunde Olaniran. Olaniran represented the Great Lakes state the edition after Yasuda, alongside flaggay Jax Anderson, where they didn't have the same level of success as Yasuda, but also netted the state a second qualification, and placed 16th in the final. The pair make up the human hosts, but there is one more left to announce. Aubry is a dog born in Toronto, but adopted by a forumer and living in Metropolitan Detroit. She has gained a cult following on the forum's discord with her adorable looks and regal demeanor i mean can you blame her lol. Aubry featured in the last Michigander bid for OSOTY alongside Sufjan Stevens, and made a cameo not just in OSOTY 2020, but also in Own Americavision Song Contest 11, where she joined hosts Priyanka and Marie-Mai. The trio hope that you will decide to join them on Mackinac Island
Here is a video to showcase what all we will deliver to you all in Mackinac Island. The link itself starts at the design reveal, but if you want a taste of the island, you can watch the full video. The design is inspired by the horse-drawn carriages that are prevalent on the island, and I hope that you enjoy what she’s serving.
Once again, on behalf of Aubry, Rei, Tunde, and myself, we hope that you choose to fly to Mackinac Island for the Own Song of the Year Contest 2021

TONGA BIDS TO HOST OSOTY 2021!!
Nuku'alofa - The national broadcaster, TBC, has confirmed its intention to host the Own Song Of The Year festival in Tonga! The broadcaster has decided that it would nominate the nations largest city and capital Nuku'alofa to be the host city, were they to win the bid.
Tonga has recently celebrated their 10th participation in the Own Asiavision Song Contest Edition #28 in Tajikistan with the song "Surrender" by Jason Gewalt and Stevyn, and while that resulted in a non-qualification, the Tongan morale for contest participation continues to grow higher. Tonga welcomes people from all over to come and participate in the Own Song of the Year 2021!
POTENTIAL HOST CITY
Nukuʻalofa is the capital of Tonga. It is located on the north coast of the island of Tongatapu, in the country's southernmost island group. It has a population of just over 23,000 inhabitants. Despite its small size, it is bustling with culture and is the epicentre of Tonga. Right next door there are beautiful golden sand beaches in the Tongatapu lagoon, with hoardes of wonderful marine life. A scenic and beautiful city, and an iconic setting for OSOTY!
POTENTIAL HOST
The broadcaster has nominated 2 potential hosts to the contests, should it come to Nuku'alofa. Please welcome...
Dinah Jane and Holiday!!!
Dinah Jane is a Tongan-American singer who previously represented the country back in edition #19 of OASC. She is an icon to the people of Tonga and despite her not qualifying to the final of that edition, she is still well loved by the people of the Friendly Islands. Unfortunately, since the broadcaster spent all of their money on hiring Dinah to present, the second host is the much cheaper option of the Head of Delegation, forum icon and professional EDM enthusiast themself Holiday.
On being interviewed about this hosting partnership, Holiday remarked - "This is so exciting I could get to work with the Dinah Jane for this contest. She is an icon and a legend in Tonga". Dinah however refused to comment.
THE DESIGN
The design is based off of the iconic Garcinia sessilis flower, colloquially known as 'heilala'. The species is endemic to Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and the Solomon Islands and is the national flower of the country. The flower design is the centrepiece for this edition, accompanied by a futuristic purple and blue colour palette.
- DESIGN PREVIEW -
THE ARENA
We are proud to announce the fact that we are planning to host this contest on the golden beaches of Tongatapu - right outside Nuku'alofa. This will bring a never before seen atmosphere and grandeur to the Own Contest World and shows that yes, we might not be able to host in a cargo box but we can sure host on the beach!
if the beach isnt allowed then use Teufaiva Sport Stadium
We hope you choose Tonga for OSOTY 2021!! #nukualofa2021 #votetonga #ifwegetenoughvotesholidaywillsingswaylive

Mississippi applies!
Jackson, 10 December 2021 - The Mississippian broadcaster, Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB), has confirmed that Mississippi will apply for the Own Song of the Year 2021 hosting bids!
Mississippi has participated in the USA's spin-off, Own USAvision Song Contest, since the 1st without any non-participation. The state's best result was achieved by the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Ruelle, back in the first edition with the song "Live Like Legends". She placed in 2nd place in the semi-final but sadly finished only at the 15th place in the grand final. However, she received a second chance from the broadcaster to represent the southeastern state once again in the current edition with Fleurie and their song "Carry You". So far, Mississippi has only 1 non-qualification back in the 3rd edition with the song "Games" by Caroline Romano, in which she said she will submit another song to MPB and try to represent her home state again in the future.
Host city
Jackson, officially the City of Jackson, is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. State of Mississippi. It is one of two county seats of Hinds County, along with Raymond, Mississippi. The city of Jackson also includes around 3,000 acres (12.1 km2) comprising Jackson-Medgar Evers International Airport in Rankin County and a small portion of Madison County. The city has a population of 153,701 as of the 2020 census, down from 173,514 from the 2010 census. Jackson's population declined more between 2010 and 2020 (11.42%) than any major city in the United States. The city sits on the Pearl River and is located in the greater Jackson Prairie region of Mississippi.
Founded in 1821 as the site for a new state capital, the city is named after General Andrew Jackson, who was honored for his role in the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812 and would later serve as U.S. president. Following the nearby Battle of Vicksburg in 1863 during the American Civil War, Union forces under the command of General William Tecumseh Sherman began the Siege of Jackson and the city was subsequently burned.
Jackson is the anchor for the Jackson, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the state's 2nd largest metropolitan area, because four counties in northern Mississippi are part of the Memphis metropolitan area. With a 2019 population estimated at 595,000, metropolitan Jackson is home to about one-fifth of Mississippi's population.
Venue
The show will be held at the Mississippi Coliseum, a 6,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Jackson, Mississippi, built in 1962 and located on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds complex. The arena has 6,812 seats available for basketball, and can be expanded to 10,000 for concerts. It sits 2,900 feet (884 meters) atop the extinct Jackson Volcano.
In addition to the Coliseum, the Mississippi State Fairgrounds includes: The Mississippi Trade Mart, the A & I agricultural complex and the Kirk Fordice Equine Center.
Presenters
Oprah Gail Winfrey is an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, broadcast from Chicago, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and ran in national syndication for 25 years, from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the "Queen of All Media," she was the richest African-American of the 20th century was once the world's only Black billionaire and the greatest Black philanthropist in U.S. history. By 2007, she was sometimes ranked as the most influential woman in the world.
Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a single teenage mother and later raised in inner-city Milwaukee. She has stated that she was molested during her childhood and early teens and became pregnant at 14; her son was born prematurely and died in infancy. Winfrey was then sent to live with the man she calls her father, Vernon Winfrey, a barber in Nashville, Tennessee, and landed a job in radio while still in high school. By 19, she was a co-anchor for the local evening news. Winfrey's often emotional, extemporaneous delivery eventually led to her transfer to the daytime talk show arena, and after boosting a third-rated local Chicago talk show to first place, she launched her own production company.
Britney Jean Spears is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. She is credited with influencing the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s, for which she is referred to as the "Princess of Pop". Regarded as a pop icon, Spears has sold nearly 150 million albums worldwide as of 2020, including over 70 million records solely in the United States, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists.
Spears was ranked by Billboard as the eighth-biggest artist of the 2000s. In the United States, she is the fourth best-selling female album artist of the Nielsen SoundScan era as well as the best-selling female album artist of the 2000s. "...Baby One More Time" was named the greatest debut single of all time by Rolling Stone in 2020. In 2004, Spears launched a perfume brand with Elizabeth Arden, Inc.; sales exceeded $1.5 billion as of 2012. Forbes has reported Spears as the highest-paid female musician of 2002 and 2012. By 2012, she had topped Yahoo!'s list of most searched celebrities seven times in 12 years. Time named Spears one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2021, winning the reader poll by receiving the highest number of votes.

Nong Nok Khiene - Tropaeng Kreal applied! With the announcement of the Own Song Of The Year 2021 Contest, LNTV and TVK has expressed their interests in co-bidding together, probably marking this as the first multiple countries bid for the Own Song of the Year ever.
Cambodia has participated in the Own Asiavision Song Contest for some editions and took the victory once by Nikki Nikki and her song "Beautiful Art" in Manila. Nowadays, the country seems to struggle in qualifying a bit and hope to come back to the final soon. Meanwhile Laos, on the other hand, is among the countries that has participated in the contest since the first edition and is never absent. The country won the contest once in neighboring Phnom Pehn by The Naked and Famous and their song "Higher" and furthermore, the country had just celebrated its tenth conservative grand final appearance a month ago! Nong Nok Khiene and Tropaeng Kreal is the border cities where the only official crossing point between Laos and Cambodia is situated. The border starts in the west at the tripoint with Thailand at Preah Chambot peak in the Dângrêk Mountains. The border then proceeds overland to the south-east, reaching the Tonle Repou river and following this eastwards to the Mekong River. The Mekong here is extremely wide, forming the Si Phan Don islands area, with the border along the southern rim of this riverine lake, before leaving it and proceeding overland to the north. The border then turns east, reaching the Kong River and following this for a period, before proceeding eastwards over to the Vietnamese tripoint in the Annamite Mountains.
Stadium? Naur. Arena? Naur. Nature? So trew. The Khone Falls and Pha Pheng Falls (ນ້ຳຕົກຕາດຄອນພະເພັງ / ល្បាក់ខោន) together form a waterfall located in Champasak Province on the Mekong River in southern Laos, near the border with Cambodia. At 10,782 metres (6.7 miles) wide, it is the widest waterfall in the world!
The Khone Falls are the largest in southeast Asia, and are the main reason that the Mekong is not fully navigable into China. The falls are characterised by thousands of islands and countless waterways, giving the area its name Si Phan Don or 'the 4,000 islands'. The Khone Falls are the largest in southeast Asia, and are the main reason that the Mekong is not fully navigable into China. The falls are characterised by thousands of islands and countless waterways, giving the area its name Si Phan Don or 'the 4,000 islands'. Performing in front of the great art of nature under the ray of heavenly light? That sounds so yassification!
Two yassified and iconic hosts will guide you to the magic of Nong Nok Khiene - Tropaeng Kreal 2022! Adila Sedraïa , best known by her stage name Indila, is a French singer, songwriter and icon with several heritages including Cambodia. She collaborated with many musicians on vocals and songwriting prior to releasing her first single, "Dernière danse" ("Last Dance") which is also her winning song in Own Eurovision Song Contest 27. Many Own contests fan have demanded the Khmer delegation to choose her to represent the nation, which is always rejected and resulted in the not so good results up to date. Now she is finally get to do something but this time with another Bulgarian-Lao legend Alexandra Bounxouei, who is an ultimate living legend of Lao music and entertainment industry. Alexandra once held the best results ever of Laos until the change of delegation. Indila and Alexandra are ready to welcome you to the wonderful cities nearby the holy Mekong river where we will, together, be going to ...
Looking back to the past 12 months, there were some songs that are loved, that deserved something better, that should have gotten their revenge. Happiness, sadness, pleasantness, disappointment... A lot of things happened in this year throughout the planet so why not just undo the mistake and celebrate the past again in Nong Nok Khiene and Tropaeng Kreal?
If you want to celebrate this amazing flashback in our countries, don't forget to vote for our bid! We hope to meet you with us in Nong Nok Khiene and Tropaeng Kreal!
