Own Song Of The Year 2022

Hello to everybody taking part in the Own Song Contest Franchise. We are here again for the special show to happily close this (again chaotic) year 2022 and season. Let's rewelcome the...

OWN SONG OF THE YEAR

Hundreds of amazing songs have competed this year through the five Own contests. And now you'll be able to nominee the best ones to take part in an unique joint show.

This edition both the nominations and the hosting bids will take place at the same time.

HOW TO NOMINATE A SONG

You are allowed to nominate up to 10 songs per each contest, this means songs from:

• OESC58,  OESC 59
• OASC29,  OASC30
• OAmSC13,  OAmSC14
• OAfSC09, OAfSC10,  OAfSC11,  OAfSC12
• OUSC04,  OUSC05, OUSC06, OUSC7*
  

                        * although OUSC7 is running right now, it is expected to be finished before OSOTY2022.

Which makes up a total of 14 editions !

However you must follow some rules:

• You cannot nominee contests winners, as they have their own show.
• You can nominee your own entries and you don't have to nominee in all contests if not desired.
  
• You cannot nominee a song more than once.
• You are not allowed to fill the form more than once with fake accounts.
  

In case of a tie while counting the nominations the song with the best score in their contest wins the tie, if it isn't enough the points and semifinal placements will be taken into consideration.

Please you have to nominate the songs as "COUNTRY EDITION", e.g. "Cape Verde 03", "Brazil 09" or "Azerbaijan 53", instead of "Puszcaj" or "Good Boy Daisy - Selfish"

 Kɔ́ngɔ-Kinsásá na OSOTY 

Lubumbashi, 15 December 2022 - Since nobody else is gonna bid, might as well be me. 

HOST CITY

Lubumbashi (former names: Élisabethville (French), Elisabethstad (Dutch)) is the second-largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, located in the country's southeasternmost part, along the border with Zambia. The capital and principal city of the Haut-Katanga Province, Lubumbashi is the center of mining in the region, acting as a hub for many of the country's largest mining companies. No definite population figures are available, but the population of the city's urban area is estimated to be around 2,584,000 in 2021. The city also happens to be the city where the headquarters of the Own African Union of Broadcasters (OUAB) is.  


HOST VENUE

Stade TP Mazembe is a multi-use stadium located in the Kamalondo suburb of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Since its completion in 2011, it has mostly been used for football matches and is the home venue of TP Mazembe and CS Don Bosco. The stadium has 18,000 seats. The primary club that uses this venue, TP Mazembe, was the first club from Africa to make it to the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, where they fell to the Italian side Inter Milan 3-0. The club would also go to the Club World Cup in 2015, but they failed to make any noise there. 


HOSTS

That's right. Two of your favourite Kinshasa-Congolese representatives are back to host this OSOTY. Marie-Pierra Kakoma, better known as  Lous and the Yakuza, is a three-time OAfSC representative from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but based in Belgium. Her first participation was a 12th place finish in the semifinals of OAfSC 2 with "Dilemme". Her next participation was two editions later in Port Louis with "Téléphone sonne", where she got the first ever left hand placement for a Kinshasa-Congolese participant. She would then come back in Antananarivo, flying the Rwandan flag, as she was raised in the nation for some time. In Antananarivo, she would not only get the first Rwandan qualification in the contest, but also their first top 10 placement, with 8th from "Amigo". Currently, she recently released her second album, IOTA, and is working on taking over the Francophone music world. She will be joined by  Mélissa Yansané, a legend in the Kinshasan music scene. Having come in second place in national finals to represent Congo-Kinshasa in editions 7 & 8, the Head of Delegation selected her to compete in Bamako with her song, "Bâton magique", alongside fellow Kinshasan, Gaz Mawete. In Bamako, she placed 9th. Together, they will host OSOTY 22.
