My top 20 of Festival da Cancao 2024:1. Noble - MemoryThis is very beautiful.
2. Nena - Teorias da ConspiraçãoShe has a very beautiful voice. The song is your everyday pop ballad with the usual structure. It's absolutely listenable and there's nothing else to complain. Maybe it could have a bit more power.
3. iolanda - GritoIt's not bad. But there's something in it I don't like.
4. Cristina Clara - Primavera This is a very calm entry. It's nothing I'd listen to myself, but doesn't do any harm.
5. Buba Espinho - O Farol It has a beautiful instrumental, but I find it a bit boring and "too old" sounding (I don't want to use the word outdated lol).
6. No Maka & Ana Maria - Aceitar Beautiful voice. Okay song. It becomes much better in the second half.
7. Filipa - You Can’t Hide It's modern, but also repetitive. I feel like half of the song consists of "You can run, but you can't hide."
8. Rita Rocha - Pontos Finais I like the ringing sound in the instrumental. The song also is really cute.
9. Huca - Pé de Choro It's not very catchy in spite of its clap along beat, but I like it particularly for the rhythm and instrumental.
10. Rita Onofre - CriaturaAn okay-ish pop song. It's annoying me slightly.
11. João Couto - Quarto para Um It's okay. Not very memorable I'm afraid.
12. Maria João - DiaShe has a spooky sounding voice. It's a very original one for sure. The song is a very original composition with African elements.
13. Leo Middea - Doce MistérioI really like the African (?) inspired instrumental. As for the rest of it, its not bad, but a little flat.
14. João Borsch - …Pelas CosturasA modern and energetic one. It begins good, but then in the second half he looses me with those changes in speed.
15. Perpétua - Bem Longe Daqui I hear an 80s vibe out of it. It's therefore not the most original, but somewhat catchy. I don't like her voice.
16. Mila Dores - Afia a Língua It's okay. Nothing outstanding, but listenable
17. Silk Nobre - ChangeBeing a gospel tune it stands out. To me it's a bit too repetitive ("need a second chance" and "change") though. I feel like watching a musical tho with him actively addressing the audience. It's not competitive I fear.
18. Mela - ÁguaHer voice is on the annoying side I'm afraid. The song is okay. A bit too much of the word Água.
19. Left. - Volto a Ti Tbh. I find this song boring. There's not really anything - such as melody or instrumental - that changes.
20. Bispo - Casa Portuguesa A modern urban song. His voice is slightly unpleasant and the song is 0 catchy.
This edition of the festival is good. The variety is also much better than what it at first seemed to be.
