This is a thread about the SaS-news related to Georgia
TV broadcaster/Radio station: WVEE (TV/Radio broadcaster located in Atlanta)
Musical format: Hip-hop
Artist: OutKast
The TV-Radio Broadcaster, WVEE, has now officially confirmed their announcement of their second artist. Making it the thirty-first official SaS #2-representant!
The submission has been brought out by our supporters for this contest! That became the state's choice to that due to a non-qualification from last edition when the avant-garde folk music group Three Weird Sisters and their song "Song of Fey Cross" just barely qualified with a 6th place with 62 points.
Our decision was to choose one of the most succesful recording hip-hop-acts of all time, and whose musical career has been a worldwide fame. The members' activeness together is on indefinite hiatus and they're doing solo-work at current stage.
Genre is all but just the generic beat of what the Hip-hop-genre can be. It is mixed with funk, pop, jazz, blues, rock, electronic music. Hell, we're introducing this kind of Hip-hop of what never has been heard anywhere else than by the duo themselves. They are called OutKast!
Both are born in the state of Georgia, in the major city of Hip Hop, Atlanta!
With 7 released studio albums, over 25 million records have been sold.
One of the albums, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, is one of only four hip-hop albums to be certified Diamond in the US for shipping over 10 million records. Along with Outkast's commercial success, they have maintained an experimental approach in their music and are widely praised for their originality and artistic content.
With them having their return onto this kind of song contest, we are feeling very proud of ourselves for making that work!
They'll be the successor of Three Weird Sisters. And they'll give it their max potential and to see if the voters agree on their participated entry, when it is pending on taste!
Special thanks to McKala for suggesting this artist!

Song: "Hey Ya"
Written and produced by André 3000.
It was released by LaFace Records as one of the album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below's two lead singles.
It became a commercial success, reaching the Top 5 of most of the charts it entered, and topping the Billboard Hot 100 and the ARIA Singles Chart, among others: in 2009, Billboard named it as the 20th most successful song of the 2000s decade in the United States.
"Hey Ya!" takes influence from funk and rock music.
The song opens with three upbeats as André 3000 counts "one, two, three" and then leads into the first verse.
The lyrics begin to describe the protagonist's concerns and doubts about a romantic relationship. He wonders if they are staying together just "for tradition", as in the lines:
But does she really wanna [mess around] / But can't stand to see me / Walk out the door?
André 3000 commented:
I think it's more important to be happy than to meet up to...the world's expectations of what a relationship should be. So this is a celebration of how men and women relate to each other in the 2000s.
The song then leads into the chorus, which consists of the line "Hey ya!" repeated eight times, accompanied by a synthesizer performing the bassline.
During the second verse, the protagonist gets cold feet and wonders what the purpose of continuing the relationship is, pondering the question, "If they say nothing is forever...then what makes love the exception?" After repeating the chorus, the song leads into a call and response section.
André 3000 jokes, "What's cooler than being cool?", and the "fellas'" response, an overdubbed version of his vocals, is "Ice cold", a reference to one of André Benjamin's stage names. He then calls to the "ladies", whose response is overdubbed from vocals by Rabeka Tuinei, who was an assistant to the audio engineer.
The song's breakdown coined the phrase "shake it like a Polaroid picture", a reference to an erroneous technique used by some photographers to expedite instant film. Early versions of the film needed to be dried, and shaking the picture helped it to dry faster. The breakdown also namechecks singer Beyoncé and actress Lucy Liu. The song closes by repeating the chorus and gradually fading out.
"Hey Ya!" received positive reviews from music critics. PopMatters described the track as "brilliantly rousing" and "spazzy with electrifying multiplicity".
Entertainment Weekly highlighted it as the catchiest song on the double album, and Stylus Magazine identified it as one of the best songs in OutKast's history.
★ Lyrics ★
One, two, three, go!
My baby don't mess around
Cause she loves me so
This I know fo sho!
But does she really wanna
But can't stand to see me walk out tha door
Don't try to fight the feeling
Cause the thought alone is killin' me right now
Thank God for Mom and Dad
For sticking together
Like we don't know how
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
You think you've got it
Oh, you think you've got it
But got it just don't get it when there's nothin' at all
We get together
Oh, we get together
But separate's always better when there's feelings involved
Know what they say -its:
Nothing lasts forever!
Then what makes it, then what makes it
Then what makes it, then what makes it
Then what makes love the exception?
So why, oh, why, oh
Why, oh, why, oh, why, oh
Are we still in denial when we know we're not happy here
Hey ya! (y'all don't want to here me, ya just want to dance. oh, oh!) Hey ya!
Don't want to meet your daddy (oh ohh), just want you in my caddy (oh ohh)
Hey ya! (oh, oh!) Hey ya! (oh, oh!)
Don't want to meet your momma, just want to make you cum-a (oh,oh!)
I'm (oh,oh) I'm (oh,oh) I'm just being honest! (oh,oh)
I'm just being honest!
Hey! alright now! alright now, fellas!
Yea?
Now, what cooler than being cool?
Ice cold!
I can't hear ya! I say what's, what's cooler than being cool?
Ice cold!
Alright alright alright alright alright alright alright
alright alright alright alright alright alright alright!
Okay, now ladies!
Yea?
Now we gonna break this thang down for just a few seconds,
Now don't have me break this thang down for nothin',
I want to see you on your baddest behaviour!
Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbour!
Ah! Here we go now,
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, (oh,oh)
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, (oh,oh)
Shake it like a Polaroid picture! Hey ya!
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it,
Shake it, shake it, shake it, suga!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Now all the Beyonce's, and Lucy Lu's, and baby dolls,
Get on tha floor (get on tha floor!)
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it,
Shake it, shake it, shake it, suga!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Oh, you! oh, you!
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it,
Shake it, shake it, shake it, suga!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh)
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, hey ya!)
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh, oh, oh)
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh)
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya!
